WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

THURSDAY, MARCH 1^ST:  HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. SEUSS!!!

BIG EVENTS AROUND CAMPUS YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS!!!

LITERACY NIGHT:   Thursday, March 1^st from 5:00pm – 6:30pm in our MPR.   Cat in the Hat and Geronimo Stilton will be on campus handing out book marks and interacting with the kids.   Games and fun will be going on in the MPR.  Remember students participating in the reading challenge must be present to win the Kindle Fire!!!  The drawing will take place in the MPR at 6:00pm.  

SHOWCASE FOR LEARNING:  On Thursday, March 1st from 5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. West Wing School will be hosting a Showcase for Learning Night. This is an annual event to invite not only all parents and students who currently attend West Wing School, but also any parents of students who are interested in attending West Wing School for the 18-19 school year. This night will showcase the types of exciting rigorous academic learning that is going on at West Wing School.

West Wing School has been an award winning school since 2006 and the entire community has an opportunity to see firsthand, the outstanding academic programs we provide. You will have an opportunity to meet the West Wing teachers, view the grade level materials and see activities that are currently being implemented at our school.

We will have all of our classrooms open for you and your children to view the classrooms. If you want to register your children for Kindergarten for the 18/19 school year, please come to visit the classrooms and registration paperwork will be available for you to complete. We look forward to seeing all of you on Thursday, March 1st for the Showcase for Learning Night.

SPRING BOOK FAIR!:    IS UNDERWAY!!!   It runs through this Friday, March 2^nd.   

Hours:  Wednesday:  8:30 – 4:00

              Thursday:      8:30 – 6:30pm  *open late!

              Friday:           8:30 – 1:00pm

In addition to helping our library earn funds you can help our teachers build their classroom libraries.  During the fair simply purchase a “gift certificate” for your teacher OR purchase a book of your choice you feel their classroom could use.  Either way a label will be placed in the donated book showing your child’s name for all to see!  

CAMP READ A LOT! 

Thursday: Wear GREEN!   Green Eggs and Ham for lunch!

Friday: “Camp Out and Read”  Wear your PJ’s & bring a blanket for special activities in class.

FOOD TRUCKS will be on site during these big events so skip cooking, come hungry! We’ll have the Gorilla Cheese Truck, K Star BBQ and Frosty Frenzy just to name a few.   

BAND AND CHOIR:  Our awesome band and choir students will be performing in or near our MPR!

P.E.:   Our wonderful P.E. department will be set up near the MPR showcasing their new activity "Spikeball" which they purchased with funds they raised during last year’s field day!  Thank you students and parents!! 

BASEBALL TEAM:  Will be playing a home game against Anthem starting at 4:30pm

EARLY RELEASE: All grades released at 12:05pm.

Friday, March 2nd

CHEER CAMP CLINIC:  For Kinder – 6^th grades.   Monday, March 12^th – Friday, March 16^th after school until 5:30pm.   The cost is $30 per participant and $20 each additional sibling.  Registration packets can be picked up from the front office.  Contact Kelsey.sercl@dvusd.org if you have any questions.

COMING IN FROM OUR PTSA:

BASEBALL / SOFTBALL:  All games start approx. 4:30pm.  NOTE:  Some of our baseball games will be played at local high schools.

March 6^th:          Baseball:  WW & Terramar @ Sandra Day O’Conner HS

WEST WING FIELD DAYS:   Kids WILL be getting wet so please bring a towel.  Swimsuits may be worn under clothing but “see through” t-shirts/clothing will not be allowed.  Dress code will be enforced.  Students must wear their swimsuit from home.  Changing in the bathrooms will not be permitted.   Please bring a hat, water bottle-WITH their name on it.   Food and drink will be sold by the PE department-everything is $.50!  Parents are welcome to come and join the fun!   Some of your teachers may need your help with the classes during this event.   Please contact the teacher to see if your help is needed.

Friday, March 2^nd:  7^th & 8^th grades from 9:00am – 12:00pm

Friday, March 9^th:  Kinder – 6^th grades:

Kinder-3^rd is 9:00 – 11:15am 

4^th – 6^th is 1:15 – 3:30pm 

SPRING PICTURES:  Grad’s Photography will be here to take pictures.   You’ll place your order after the pictures are taken.  Return any unwanted photos. 

HONOR ROLL/PRINCIPAL LIST ASSEMBLY:  March 22^nd.
