Construction Science Technology Apprenticeship Fair: Where: Chase Field Who: High School Juniors and Seniors What: Construction Science Technology Apprenticeship Fair When: April 1, 2020, vs San Francisco Giants (Apprenticeship fair prior to game)First pitch at 12:40 pm. Arizona students and chaperoning faculty are invited to participate in the Construction Science Technology Apprenticeship Fair where exhibitors will be showcasing their open apprenticeship and job opportunities. The Apprenticeship Fair is free for students and chaperoning faculty and those who attend will receive a complimentary ticket to the afternoon's Arizona Diamondbacks game v. the Giants. The fair begins at 8:00 AM on April 1, 2020. One ticket per student or chaperoning faculty. Participants must attend the fair to receive a ticket to the game.

Arizona Girls and Boys Program: ATTENTION JUNIORS! Arizona Girls and Boys State Program is hosting a week-long unique summertime educational program for high school juniors that focuses on participation and personal experience in a model state, complete with governmental bodies and elected public officials. Interested students please pick-up and complete a student nomination application from the counseling office. Applications are due for the girls by Feb 18th and boys by the Mar 17th.

West -Mec Tour West-Mec: Calling all freshman students to come tour West-Mec Northeast Campus and explore different career fields. When: West-Mec Field Trip on March Tuesday 10th from 9:00 am - 11:00 am Come get your permission slip from the counseling office lobby Deadline to turn in completed permission slips is Tuesday March 3rd Due to transportation, it is capped at 50 students (First come, First served)

Anthem Rotary Teacher of the Year Nomination: The Rotary Club of Anthem is inviting our BCHS students to nominate teachers for the 2019-2020 Anthem Rotary "Teacher of the Year Award." Any full-time teacher who works at BCHS is eligible for nomination. The selected teacher will be picked from nominations from all BCHS nominees. This to include in your nomination: Why should this teacher be named Anthem's Teacher of the Year? How does this teacher inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn? Please provide examples of the teacher's leadership skills and efforts to promote collaboration, student engagement, and community/family involvement. Dream it, Be it, Career Support for girls: Free One Day Career Workshop for girls ages 13-18 years of age. Dream it, Be it is a mentoring and education program for girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success. Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month: February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and we want you to know that you have the right to feel safe in your relationships. If you’ve been the victim of teen dating violence, or you know someone who has been hurt by their partner, don’t keep it a secret. Remember that abuse isn’t necessarily just physical, it can also be verbal, emotional, sexual and digital. There is help and there is hope. If you feel unsafe in your relationship due to the way your partner talks or behaves toward you, please reach out to someone. Our school community is here for you as well as the Peer Counselors at Teen Lifeline, who can be reached by calling or texting the number on the back of your student ID.

Counseling News: Counseling News: On February 27th during FLEX time counseling is offering a college workshop for juniors. The workshop will cover the junior year timeline, what are the differences between colleges and end with students starting their college list. The workshop is intended to be interactive.

Biology Technology scholarship: Boster is proud to provide an annual scholarship to students with an interest in pursuing or continuing a 4-year academic program related to Biology Technology. All things E.Q. 2/24-2/28: Rise above, rather than react to your environment. The message this week is about how we can’t always control the situation we find ourselves in, and at times our situation will be less than we desire. It’s easy to let a situation control our mood and behavior and forget we ever had the choice to rise above our circumstances. Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius taught this idea: “Here is a rule to remember in the future, when anything tempts you to feel bitter: not "This is a misfortune," but "To bear this worthily is good fortune.” -Marcus Aurelius Unpleasant situations do tempt us to react in anger or bitterness. However, the temptation isn’t something to be ashamed of; everyone feels the pull of these negative emotions. What’s important is to remember we can turn down the invitation to react in anger or frustration and when we do, we rise above, rather than react to our environment. “To succeed, it is necessary to accept the world as it is and rise above it.” -Michael Korda Our insights for the students this week: When things are not working out, pay attention to the questions you ask yourself. For example, if you are struggling to accept the situation you may ask: “Why is this happening to me?” However, this question focuses on the problem, not the solution and your answers will only make you feel worse because they will either be about pity or blame and neither will help you improve. Or you can choose to accept the fact that everyone has problems to bear and focus on a solution by asking yourself: “How can I best respond to what happened?” The answer to this question will help you rise above your circumstances because it is action-oriented and focused on what’s next rather than on what happened. Our actions, in the face of unpleasant situations, demonstrate our true character. Rise above because you are more than your circumstances,

Library News: East Side Story: A 1950’s Mystery Party Friday, March 13th from 5:30 to 8 pm At the library. Hey Daddy-o. It’s 1955 and Fontaine City has a problem with teenage street gangs. The hot rod racing gang called the D-Birds and their ladies, the Pink Chicks, rule the east side of town. The Pit Viper motorcycle gang runs the west side of town, and their ladies are the Black Widows. If either of these gangs ends up on the other’s turf, a white knuckle rumble may break out and cause chaos in the streets. The cheerleaders believe that bringing the teens of Fontaine City together will solve the gang problem, so they have scheduled the Friendship Sock Hop. You have been invited.
