Dorrance Scholarship Seniors, it's not too late to apply for the Dorrance Scholarship. This scholarship program provides academic and financial support to first-generation college students planning to attend one of the 3 in-state universities. The deadline to apply is February 7, 2020, but your FAFSA must be submitted by January 15th. See your counselor for more information.
Boys Volleyball Open Gym & Try-out information: Boys Volleyball: The Boys Volleyball team will be hosting open gyms in the auxiliary gym, from 2:30-4:30 pm. There are 4 in January, on the 14th, 16th, 21st, 28th, and the 31st. In February there are 2, on the 4th & 7th. The open gyms are free to everyone, regardless of playing experience. Tryouts will be held in the auxiliary gym from February 10th-14th, from 2:30-5:00 pm. Make sure to have your physical packets turned in to the office. If you have any questions about the upcoming season, please reach out to Taylor Stallman.
ASVAB Testing: ASVAB-CEP Testing: Are you interested in identifying your career strengths and receiving an inventory assessment and feedback? Or are you interested in the possibility of joining the military after high school? If you are a junior or senior, consider taking the ASVAB-CEP (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery-Career Exploration Program) on Tuesday, Feb. 11th from 7:30 am – 11:30 am. Please sign up for the ASVAB Test in the counseling office by 2/7.

Community Conversation: Deer Valley Unified School District will once again be hosting a Community Conversation centered on the topic of suicide awareness and social and emotional learning. Led by nationally known expert Dr. Max McGee and his group of presenters, members of our school community can expect an informative and lively presentation about a wide range of issues that students in our society face today. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer period with Dr. McGee, his presenters, and DVUSD district administrators. Please join us in the Sandra Day O’Connor High School Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, February 5th at 7 pm. We expect the presentation to last an hour with the question and answer period to follow. We believe anyone who has any interest in youth in our society will benefit from attendance. Those who attended last year reported that it was one of the most meaningful and informative presentations they had seen. We hope to see you there.
ASU Flex time February 6: Seniors, have you been accepted to ASU and are wondering what to do next or have questions for the admissions representative? If so join ASU during FLEX time on February 6th. You can sign up under counseling.
Spring Sport Try-outs: Spring Sports Try-outs are just around the corner if you are unsure if you are cleared for try-outs, please see Ms. Jen in Athletics by February 7th.
Pre-season Track practice: Pre-season Track practices are starting Monday, January 27th. Sprinters and jumpers are practicing Monday-Friday at 4 pm on the track. Middle and Long distance practices are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday at 4 pm on the track. Official practices start February 10th at 3pm.

Arizona students and chaperoning faculty are invited to participate in the Construction Science Technology Apprenticeship Fair where exhibitors will be showcasing their open apprenticeship and job opportunities. The Apprenticeship Fair is free for students and chaperoning faculty and those who attend will receive a complimentary ticket to the afternoon's Arizona Diamondbacks game v. the Giants. The fair begins at 8:00 AM on April 1, 2020. One ticket per student or chaperoning faculty. Participants must attend the fair to receive a ticket to the game.
Arizona Girls and Boys Program: ATTENTION JUNIORS! Arizona Girls and Boys State Program is hosting a week-long unique summertime educational program for high school juniors that focuses on participation and personal experience in a model state, complete with governmental bodies and elected public officials. Interested students please pick-up and complete a student nomination application from the counseling office. Applications are due for the girls by Feb 18th and boys by the Mar 17th.
Attention Senior Future Lumberjacks: Attention Senior Future Lumberjacks! All students who have been or are looking to be awarded the Lumberjack Scholars Award (LSA) must submit an unofficial PDF copy of their 7th-semester transcripts to NAU, Ljscholars@NAU.edu by February 10th in order to verify their eligibility for this award.

Pizza at Half Time: Free Entry to Girls Basketball Game and a free slice of Pizza at Half time! Come support your lady jags at home against Sandra Day O'Connor on Friday, February 7th, at 7:00 PM. Bring the flier to the ticket taker on the day of the game. The flier is not valid after first quarter. For all BC students and staff. Fliers are located in the bookstore, athletic department and any girl basketball player. See you at the game.
Girls & Boys Tennis Try-outs: Girls/Boys tryouts will be held after school the week of February 10th to February 13th, athletes must be cleared prior to trying out.
Senior Trip Information: Seniors - Senior Trip Information is available from Coach Crooks in the gym. You will be going to Magic Mountain, Disneyland and a day at Huntington Beach. There are already 90 seniors signed up for the trip. Get your deposit in and balance needs to be paid 15 days before the trip.
