All things E.Q. 1/6-1/10: “May we be so happy, loving our lives that we have no time for hate, regret, or fear.” -Unknown Do you use comparison to motivate or diminish yourself? Students can use comparison as an essential tool for improvement or a means of judgment and self-depreciation, depending on what they do with the comparison. For example, comparisons often make one feel like they are better than some and worse than others. “Comparisons make you feel superior or inferior. Neither serves a useful purpose.” – Unknown However, comparison can be used to learn and improve, rather than rank and measure. When we compare to learn, we see the differences between ourselves and others without feeling like our self-worth is on the line. A comparison to learn is centered around self-improvement, not judgment. "We cannot become what we want to be by remaining where we are." - Max DuPree
