Dorrance Scholarship Seniors, it's not too late to apply for the Dorrance Scholarship. This scholarship program provides academic and financial support to first-generation college students planning to attend one of the 3 in-state universities. The deadline to apply is February 7, 2020, but your FAFSA must be submitted by January 15th. See your counselor for more information.

All things E.Q. 12/9-12/13: What you say about someone says more about you than them. Our words reflect our thoughts, and because of this, our words are a window into our minds and how we see the world. What we say reveals more about us than the person or subject we may be speaking about. "Gossip reflects the insecurity of those who initiate it."-Oprah Winfrey If you find yourself in a conversation with someone, and they begin to speak unkindly about another person, there are three simple strategies you can use to navigate this situation. 1. Stay quiet. Don't join in on the gossip. People who gossip will likely stop if no one is contributing to the conversation. 2. If that doesn’t work, change the subject. Often asking a question will help change the subject, such as, “Is there homework due today in English?” 3. Walk-Away. Finally, you can always find a neutral reason to walk away, like get a drink of water, etc. To speak ill of another person is a sign of our insecurity and weakness; to notice the merits and strengths of others is a sign of our personal strength. Share your strengths with the world. Begin, right now, by taking a moment to be grateful for your own merits and qualities.

Ugly Sweater / Free Hot Chocolate: A fun tradition we have at BC is rocking the most outlandish, hideous holiday sweater on the last full Friday of school, which is this Friday the 13th. Wear your ugliest sweater or make your own! Also, come to the Echo Circle Friday morning between 7-7:30 to enjoy some FREE hot cocoa!!

Paw Pride Nominees & Winners: Nominees: Isabel Baldera, Charley Bently, Ethan Boisvert, Bella Busto, Abigail Chazan, Kyle Endles, Natalie Gajdis, Stefanie Goldstein, Nick Gowan, Jaren Haro, Leila Hawk, Dashh Johnson, Hunter Kowalowsky, Millicent Leguyen, Vincent Marzocca, Geno Ploeger, Lynden Sanchez, Shea Soukup, Austin St. Peter, Evan Webster, and Jack Yennie. Drum roll and the October Paw Pride Winners are Millicent Lenguyen and Jack Yennie. Way to go. Congratulations to all.

Softball meeting: “There will be a softball meeting for anyone interested in softball after school on Tuesday, December 17th from 2:30-3:00 pm in Mr. Campbell’s room 635.”

Mid- to Long- Term Teen Volunteers "The library is looking for teen volunteers interested in donating some time to the library for a period of 3-6 months in order to work on ongoing projects. If you are interested in collaborative efforts such as planning and executing teen programs; working with other organizations in community outreach; contributing your opinions about library resources, and more, then this opportunity could be for you. Hours are flexible and need only be a couple of times a month if you prefer. Please come to the library if you're interested and see Mrs. Liss.

World Language Club: ¡hola, bonjour, nihao. World language club is going to have Totem themed for the next meeting. Please join us at 2:15 on Tuesday, January 7 at room 331. Everyone is welcome.

Community Service Lunch Detention: We will be having Community Service Lunch Detention as an option next semester. Here are the details of how this will be implemented. -If a student is assigned more than one lunch detention they will have a choice to do community service. -When they do the community service, that will remove one day of lunch detention. -The community service will occur about the last 15 minutes of lunch and the student may arrive a couple of minutes late to the next period. -If a student misses lunch detention they will automatically receive Community the next lunch detention. Have a great last seven days of the semester.

Teen Lifeline: Teen Lifeline: December is finally here! Whether you’re feeling anxious about the upcoming holidays, uncertain about exams, or stressed about all the things to do in between, our school community is here to support you. If you or a friend is struggling, please reach out and talk to someone. Did you know that the Teen Lifeline number is on the back of your school ID. You can text or call. It’s free, confidential, and you can talk with another teen who relates to how you’re feeling. Remember, there is help and there is hope.

Cafeteria Ugly Christmas Apron Contest: The Ugly Christmas Apron Contest is on!! Vote for “The Best Ugly Apron” worn by your Lunch Ladies and Food Dudes next week on December 17th. The winner will be announced on December 18th. Get your ticket to vote from your cashier and receive a treat.
