Youth Awards: Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s (HHF) 2019 Youth Awards educational grants program is now accepting applications for the 21st Annual Youth Awards, presented by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. Graduating Class of 2020 with up to $3,500 in educational grants to fund their higher education or to fund a community-based project. Recipients will be selected for their accomplishments in the classroom, community and for their excellence in various educational categories. Recipients will also be celebrated at 10 regional ceremonies across the country: Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Northern CA, Phoenix, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, October 15th. Students can apply at www.hhfyouthawards.com For more information, please visit www.HispanicHeritage.org.

Home Coming Day Events for 10/11/19: PARADE │ 8:30 AM Join us for BCHS’s first Homecoming Parade as we celebrate all of the wonderful students and opportunities on our campus. Gavilan Peak Pkwy between the bus lane near Memorial Ave and the public library entrance will be closed between 8:00-9:30 AM. We welcome you to bring a chair, set up along the sidewalk of Gavilan Peak near Memorial, and watch this new Boulder tradition! CARNIVAL │ 5-7 PM Bring the whole family to our Community Carnival happening on BCHS’s practice field right before the big game. We have countless activities for all ages: several carnival-style games, music, rides, and activities—for both younger and older children, and food available. The entrance is free but wristbands are $5 for unlimited rides. Take advantage of our new special wristband for $7, which includes rides and entrance to the football game—up to $5 value for community members. GAME │ 7 PM Our home Varsity football game against the Liberty Lions starts at 7 pm. We are wearing bright neon colors to show our LOUD support for the Jaguars! Join us as we cheer for Football, applaud the Spiritline, admire the Band, and crown our Homecoming Royalty during half time. Please expect extra traffic and noise during the game.

Just in time for Halloween, decorate a pumpkin in any kind of gear-turning, zipper-toothed, spring-laden way you like. Small prizes awarded for best designs! Plus, pick up some creepy reads before you go. Saturday, October 19th, 2:00-3:30 pm. Registration begins on 10/5.
Volunteer Orientation (for the library only): Volunteer Orientation (for the library only) Teens! Want to make a difference? Or simply need volunteer hours? This quick orientation will get you set up for school year volunteering. Wednesday, November 6th, 2:30-3:00 pm. Registration begins on 10/23. (HOWEVER: if they have filled out a volunteer application online or are interested in volunteering, I will accept additional people who haven't signed up. So if you miss registering, don't despair!)
Attention Seniors, FAFSA Workshop (updated 10/10/19): Seniors: Here is a friendly reminder to sit down with your parents, get last year’s tax info together, and fill out the FAFSA as soon as you can. Funds are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis! If you need support filling out the FAFSA, there will be a family workshop on October 17th, during Parent-Teacher Conferences in the JAG Center from 4:00- 6:00 PM. Bring your financial information and IPAD to get started. Please bring an IPad or Lap Top computer!

Calling all Sophomors: CALLING ALL SOPHOMORES! HOBY (youth leadership organization) is hosting a 3-day leadership seminar for our current sophomores from June 4th - 7th at ASU West Campus. This program provides students with a unique interactive leadership training, life experience on a university campus, and motivation-building experiences. Please pick-up and complete a student nomination application from the counseling office. The applications are due to Ms. Sherrod by Tuesday, November 19th.

West-Mec Parent Information Night: West-Mec Parent Informational Night! Come learn about hands-on career exploration available for your student through West-Mec during parent-teacher conference night (10/17 @ 5-6:30 pm in the Jag. Center)
Parent-Teacher Conferences: Thursday, October 17, 2019, is Parent-Teacher Conference. The start time is 12:00 pm with an end time of 6:30 pm. The link is available on the Boulder Creek HS website https://www.dvusd.org/bchs. Please pick a time and sign up to meet with your student teachers.
PSAT: The PSAT is on Saturday, October 19th. Be sure to arrive on time at 7:40 am.
College Fair: On Sunday, October 20th, at the Phoenix Convention Center, there will be a college fair. E-mail your counselor for more information.
World Language Club: ¡hola, bonjour, nihao. World language club is going to have a day of the dead theme for the next meeting. Please join us at 2:15 on Tuesday, October 22 at room 331. Everyone is welcome.
