CAMPUS GOAL
By May of 2018 we will decrease the total percentage of D/F’s in literacy and math school wide by 25% (from May of 2017 percentages) as evidenced by a score of four or better on the end of course level of achievement marks.
Fun Fact: DVUSD scored higher on the AZMerit tests than the state average and charter schools.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS TO THE BULLDOG BARK
FROM ATHLETICS
Bulldog Baseball is holding winter camps for students who want to learn to play baseball the Bulldog way. Choose from three different camps focusing on different aspects of the game, OR participate in all three at a discounted price. Camps will start November 27th and run through December 15th at 3:45 PM. If you are interested, you can pick up a registration form or contact Coach McWhortor in the PRIDE office.
Hype Squad shirts are now available in the bookstore for $10 before school, after school or during your lunch. Wear your Hype Squad shirt and bring your school ID to any home game and your entry fee will be only $1. We now have large sized shirts available!
GRADUATION
Attention Seniors: Cap and Gown orders can be turned in during lunch on Thursday, November 16th in the Cafeteria. Order forms are available in the Front Office.

FROM COUNSELING
BGHS offers peer tutoring for all subjects in the media center after school from 2:17-3:15. Tutoring days will vary week by week so check the printed calendar on the library doors to see what days tutoring is offered.
Attention Sophomores! Invitations have gone out for selected sophomores invited to Puma Early College Connection, Ace +, and Hoop of Learning. All of these programs are designed to give high school students college credit. If you have received an invitation, please attend the seminar for your selected program to find out more information on these great opportunities. These programs are part of the intellectual tradition at Barry Goldwater High School. See you there!
Seniors.. do you (and your parents) need help filling out your application for financial aid (FAFSA)? Pick up a College Goal AZ flyer from your social studies teacher or from the counseling office to learn how and where you can attend a free FAFSA completion workshop.
University of Arizona College of Engineering will be hosting two Engineering Preview Night at the UA Phoenix Biomedical Campus featuring a college overview, breakout sessions and a question and answer session with one of their deans. Fall 2017 Phoenix Preview Nights are scheduled for October 19 and November 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. Please email Leslie Grignon at lgrignon@email.arizona.edu, to RSVP or for any questions.

You can help BGHS earn $$ for our students! If you shop, dine, see a movie, or use any of the services at The Shops at Norterra, please remember to submit your receipts online at www.shopandlog.com/norterra or bring them to the PRIDE Office to be submitted and returned to you. Coming Soon - We will earn TRIPLE points for all receipts dated November 15th through December 31st! There are plenty of fundraising opportunities at Norterra, as well. Please stop by the PRIDE Office for details!
Earn & Learn: Students and Staff, you can help BGHS earn points with the Earn & Learn Program! If you shop or dine at the Shops at Norterra, please remember to submit your receipts online at ShopAndLog.com or bring them to the PRIDE office to be submitted and then returned to you. Any receipts entered by Tuesday, October 31st will earn DOUBLE POINTS, so remember to submit your receipts ASAP!

It’s easy! Every time you shop, dine, enjoy services or see a movie at The Shops at Norterra, between now and March 31st, simply submit your receipts online at www.shopandlog.com/norterra. Our school earns TEN POINTS for every dollar spent. There are many opportunities for Bonus points too! The more points we earn the higher our cash grant will be!

STUDENT INFORMATION
Dress Code: Any attire that detracts from the learning environment is not acceptable. Shirts and tops may not expose bare midriffs, bare shoulders, nor be deeply cut in the front, back or under the arms. Undergarments should not be exposed. Clothing must cover the entire buttocks. Clothing may not include defamatory writing obscene language or include symbols of drugs, sex, or alcohol. You can see the complete dress code policy in the Student’s Rights and Responsibilities Handbook on our website. Please dress for success while at school!
Parking Permits: The cost for student parking on campus for the 2017-2018 school year is $100. Students who wish to park on campus may purchase a parking permit in the bookstore during their lunch period or before or after school. Beginning August 14, 2017 students who have not purchased a permit will not be allowed to park their vehicle on the BGHS campus.
FROM THE CAFETERIA: Students must reapply for the free/reduced meal program every school year. If your application has not been received and approved by September 19th, you will go to full pay status. You will be responsible for your meal payments. Submit paper applications to the cafeteria or on line applications at ezmealapp.com. Please allow 10 days for processing.
Senior students, please remember to reapply for your Free and Reduced lunch program for the 2017/2018 school year even if you have a shortened schedule. Qualifying for the Free and Reduced lunch program may also help you with testing fees and the athletic waiver.
DELIVERIES: The front desk will not accept personal items such as IPads, cell phones, money or lunches. There are also no deliveries allowed for students such as balloons, flowers, food or gifts of any kind.
Parking
Students, please be a good neighbor and do not park in the Medical Plaza or neighboring business parking lots. Your car will be towed! You can purchase a pass for the student parking lot in the Bookstore.
