CAMPUS GOAL
By May of 2018 we will decrease the total percentage of D/F’s in literacy and math school wide by 25% (from May of 2017 percentages) as evidenced by a score of four or better on the end of course level of achievement marks.
Fun Fact: DVUSD scored higher on the AZMerit tests than the state average and charter schools.
NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS TO THE BULLDOG BARK!
BGHS's Photography Club starts this Thursday, September 28, after school until 3:30, in Room 119. A professional camera is not necessary for this club. Cameras of all sorts are welcome. Don't forget! Photography Club in room 119 on Thursday!
Wrestling season is around the corner. If you want to wrestle this year at BGHS, please attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd, starting at 2:30 in Coach Cloyd's room, #312.
Don’t forget, Guest Contracts for the Homecoming Dance are due in the PRIDE Office by the end of the day. You can purchase dance tickets online until noon on Thursday. Online tickets include a FREE 5x7 photo. After noon tomorrow, all tickets must be purchased at the door and do not include a free photo.
Attention Seniors: Please remember to make arrangements with Grads Photography to have your FREE Senior Yearbook Photo taken by the November 10th Deadline. Check the Goldwater Website for a link to schedule your appointment or contact Grads Photography directly.

SIGN UP FOR PSAT
The PSAT exam is highly recommended for college-bound juniors (as well as sophomores and freshmen in Algebra 3-4 Honors or higher). Registration for the PSAT test will begin on Monday, September 11th and run through Tuesday, October 3rd. Space is limited - don't wait till the last minute to sign up! The exam will be given on Wednesday, October 11th. The cost is $20 and you must sign up at the Bookstore before or after school or at lunch. This is great practice for the SAT and is a pre-qualification for the National Merit Scholarship.
*Outside food / beverages, backpacks, skateboards, bicycles are not permitted in the stadium
FUNDRAISING
The Animal Welfare Club is selling pens that include a chance to win an adorable black and gold bulldog decoration! You can purchase Pens with tickets in the library and through members of the Animal Welfare Club. They cost 50 cents each or 3 for $1.00. Return completed tickets to the box in the library. The drawing for the bulldogs will be held on Friday, September 29th.

FROM COUNSELING
Seniors: a representative for NAU will hold an information session on campus next GOLD day on Oct 5th. The session is only open to the first 30 seniors. Sign up for this session if you have questions about NAU or need help with the application process.
College-bound juniors are highly encouraged to sign up for the PSAT exam that will be given on campus on Wed, Oct 11th. See your counselor for more information or to see if you qualify for a fee waiver.
Starting Sept 11, BGHS will offer peer tutoring for all subjects in the media center after school from 2:17-3:15. Tutoring days will vary week by week so check the printed calendar on the library doors to see what days tutoring is offered.
Information about the prestigious Flinn Scholarship is now available at www.flinnscholars.org. The Flinn Scholarship is only applicable to the 3 in-state public universities. The deadline to submit applications is Monday, October 23rd while the deadline to submit teacher and counselor recommendations is Friday, October 20th. See your counselor for more information.
The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) is now accepting applications for the 2017 Youth Awards educational grants program. Recipients will be selected for their accomplishments in the classroom, community, and for their excellence in various educational categories. To find out more information about the program, please visit www.hispanicheritage.org. The deadline to apply is Monday, October 2nd.
Since 1994, the Wendy's High School Heisman Scholarship Program has been recognizing and rewarding senior student-athletes who excel in the classroom, on the field and in the community. Senior athletes with a 3.0 or better GPA should visit wendysheisman.com to apply. The deadline is Monday, October 2nd.
The Deer Valley Education Foundation is partnering with the BHHS Legacy Foundation to provide scholarships for students interested in pursuing a career in the Health Care field. Students must be a junior or senior in DVUSD. The scholarship covers part or all of the costs for dual enrollment classes, AP or IB exam fees, or certain CTE or West-Mec programs. See your counselor for an application or for more information.

Hype Squad shirts are now available in the bookstore for $10 before school, after school or during your lunch. Wear your Hype Squad shirt and bring your school ID to any home game and your entry fee will be only $1. We now have large sized shirts available!
FROM THE CAFETERIA
Students, You must reapply for the free/reduced meal program every school year. If your application has not been received and approved by September 19th, you will go to full pay status. You will be responsible for your meal payments. Submit paper applications to the cafeteria or on line applications at ezmealapp.com.
Please allow 10 days for processing.
Parking Permits
The cost for student parking on campus for the 2017-2018 school year is $100. Students who wish to park on campus may purchase a parking permit in the bookstore during their lunch period or before or after school. Beginning August 14, 2017 students who have not purchased a permit will not be allowed to park their vehicle on the BGHS campus.
FROM THE CAFETERIA
Senior students, please remember to reapply for your Free and Reduced lunch program for the 2017/2018 school year even if you have a shortened schedule. Qualifying for the Free and Reduced lunch program may also help you with testing fees and the athletic waiver.
DELIVERIES
The front desk will not accept personal items such as IPads, cell phones, money or lunches. There are also no deliveries allowed for students such as balloons, flowers, food or gifts of any kind.
Parking
Students, please be a good neighbor and do not park in the Medical Plaza or neighboring business parking lots. Your car will be towed! You can purchase a pass for the student parking lot in the Bookstore.
