WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

  

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23RDOur front office will be closing at 1:00pm.

 

SPIRIT DAYS: 

Thursday, December 22nd:  Snow Day – wear all white

Friday, December 23rd: Pajama Day

 

EARLY RELEASE:   All grades release at 12:05 pm

STUDENT COUNCIL:  Holidays Around the World!

For 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Graders

Student Council is hosting Holidays Around the World which are fun filled crafts that teach kids all of the wonderful traditions during this winter season.

 

-This event will take place December 19th- 22nd

 

-Student Council students will be offering a craft during recess to teach students about holiday traditions from around the world

-There will be 2 stations a day. Each student will get a passport.

 

-The holidays include Christmas, Winter Solstice, 3 Kings Day, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, New Years and the Chinese New Year.

 

-Student Council will not teach any religions, rather traditions from other countries.

AMAZON SMILE:  Don’t forget to use Amazon Smile when you’re doing your online shopping this season.   Simply select West Wing PTSA and we’ll earn a portion of your shopping dollars!!  You will not notice any difference using Smile.  The regular Amazon Direct does not have a program which gives back to our school

 

BASKETBALL:  Boys Tournament

December 21st    @ Liberty High School at 7:00pm and 8:00pm

December 22nd:  Will depend on the outcome of Wednesday’s games

 

NO SCHOOL:

December 26th – January 6th:    Winter break

Monday, January 16th :    Martin Luther King Day

 

EYEGLASSES:  Has your child lost their eyeglasses?   We have a basket FULL of prescription eyeglasses that have gone unclaimed. Some are in cases and some are loose.  Please stop in the front office to look and see if a pair belongs to your child.  

 

FAMILIES PLEASE: remember that the cafeteria opens at 8:15 for breakfast only. Please do not arrive early to "hang out" in the cafeteria with friends. If you'd like to come to school early to spend time with friends, please plan on arriving after 8:30 and going to the playground. If you do plan on having breakfast between 8:15-8:40, please observe all cafeteria rules including remaining seated and respecting the cafeteria monitors. Thank you!

 

HONOR ROLL ASSEMBLY:  Thursday, January 12th in the MPR.         

9:00am  1st – 2nd  grades

9:20am  3rd – 4th grades

10:00am  5th – 6th grades

2:30pm   7th – 8th grades

 

7th – 8th GRADE DANCE:    Friday, January 20th at 5:00pm in our MPR.    More details to come.

 

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS COMPETITION:  Our next competition is Monday, January 23rd at 2:30pm.   If you plan on attending please RSVP  to shari.mills-zumstein@dvusd.org by Friday, January 20th so we can have enough seating.

We are open for breakfast at 8:15-8:45 a.m.

Wednesday, January 11th: Taco Salad

Thursday, January 12th:  Past with turkey meatballs

Friday, January 13th:  Turkey stick and string cheese

 

7th & 8th grade extra lunch choices ALL week now!:
