WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

PTSA’S HOLIDAY HOUSE: Is underway!!! It runs through Thursday, December 8^th. Nothing is over $5!! It’s a great place to start your holiday shopping!

4^TH GRADE’S CHRISTMAS ANGEL: Our 4^th graders will be shopping for Christmas Angels and are collecting $1 from any and all students who would like to wear their favorite hat all day on Friday, December 9^th!! Students should give their teachers their dollar on or before Friday.

SPELLING BEE: West Wing’s annual spelling bee will take place at 9:00am on Thursday, December 8^th in our MPR.

NJHS TOY DRIVE: Our NJHS is sponsoring a toy drive for The Salvation Army. Students can bring in their new or gently used toys anytime next week, December 12^th – 16^th and give them to their teacher. Prizes will be given to classes who donate the most toys.

AMAZON SMILE: Don’t forget to use Amazon Smile when you’re doing your online shopping this season. Simply select West Wing PTSA and we’ll earn a portion of your shopping dollars!! You will not notice any difference using Smile. The regular Amazon Direct does not have a program which gives back to our schools.

STUDENT COUNCIL: Holidays Around the World!

For 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Graders

Student Council is hosting Holidays Around the World which are fun filled crafts that teach kids all of the wonderful traditions during this winter season.

-This event will take place December 19th- 22nd

-Student Council students will be offering a craft during recess to teach students about holiday traditions from around the world

-There will be 2 stations a day. Each student will get a passport.

-The holidays include Christmas, Winter Solstice, 3 Kings Day, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, New Years and the Chinese New Year.

-Student Council will not teach any religions, rather traditions from other countries.

BASKETBALL: All games start approx. 4:15pm

Thursday, December 8^th: Highland Lakes @ WW

Tuesday, December 13^th: WW@ Paseo Hills

December 21^st – 23^rd: Boys tournament @ Liberty H.S.

NO SCHOOL:

December 26^th – January 6^th: Winter break

EYEGLASSES: Has your child lost their eyeglasses? We have a basket FULL of prescription eyeglasses that have gone unclaimed. Some are in cases and some are loose. Please stop in the front office to look and see if a pair belongs to your child.

FAMILIES PLEASE: remember that the cafeteria opens at 8:15 for breakfast only. Please do not arrive early to "hang out" in the cafeteria with friends. If you'd like to come to school early to spend time with friends, please plan on arriving after 8:30 and going to the playground. If you do plan on having breakfast between 8:15-8:40, please observe all cafeteria rules including remaining seated and respecting the cafeteria monitors. Thank you!

7^th – 8^th GRADE DANCE: Friday, January 20^th at 5:00pm in our MPR. More details to come.

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS COMPETITION: Our next competition is Monday, January 23^rd at 2:30pm. Please RSVP to shari.mills-zumstein@dvusd.org by Friday, January 20^th so we can have enough seating.
