WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

COMMUNITY FORUM with DR. VEITENHEIMER:     Dr. V. will be at West Wing School Wednesday, November 9^th from 12:00 – 1:00 pm in our library to meet with you, our parents, staff and community leaders to discuss important issues and share ideas.   We look forward to seeing you!    

THANK YOU VETERAN’S:  Do you know a veteran or someone in active duty?   Dad, mom, grandpa, grandma, uncle, aunt?  We’d like to honor them.   Our Student Council is having a Veteran’s Appreciation Assembly on Wednesday, November 9^th from 9:30am – 10:00am near our MPR.   Please invite any Veteran and Active Duty Military to our assembly.   We look forward to dedicating this time to thank them for their sacrifice for our country and freedom.  

VETERAN’S APPRECIATION WEEK:  All next week we are honoring our military for Veteran’s Day.  We will have various activities (making flowers and hearts) going on around campus which will be delivered to our military men and women.   Kinder – 3^rd grades posters are due Monday, November 7^th and 4^th  - 8^th grades letters are due Monday, November 7^th so we can deliver them to a local organization for delivery before the holidays.

Wednesday: Patriotic Day-Wear Red White and Blue

Thursday: Air Force and Coast Guard:  To honor the Air Force wear Blue and White

                                                                     To honor the Coast Guard wear Orange and White

CARE PACKAGES FOR OUR MILITARY:     ALL donations (food, miscellaneous and monetary) should be brought to West Wing School and we will box them up for Boots in the House to pick up.  

FAMILIES PLEASE: remember that the cafeteria opens at 8:15 for breakfast only. Please do not arrive early to "hang out" in the cafeteria with friends. If you'd like to come to school early to spend time with friends, please plan on arriving after 8:30 and going to the playground. If you do plan on having breakfast between 8:15-8:40, please observe all cafeteria rules including remaining seated and respecting the cafeteria monitors. Thank you!

ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FEAST:  On November 18th - The cafeteria is hosting their annual Thanksgiving feast and needs volunteers to help make it a success. If you can help for part or all of it, please sign up on our website at westwingptsa.com.

HARKINS T-SHIRTS AND LOYALTY CUPS:   Our PTSA is selling Harkins Loyalty Cups and T-Shirts again this year. They are the same cost as paying at the theatre but we deliver and West Wing gets a profit. It's a Win-Win! Flyers should have come home last week. Orders are due by November 16th! You can send in the flyer or purchase them from our website.

THANK YOU ALBERTSON’S:  Each year Albertson’s helps us out with various donations such as lunches for Honor Roll and Principal’s List students, large donations of cookies for our Kookies with Your Kids event at the book fair and other needs throughout the school year.   We want you to know we appreciate you Albertson’s!!!   Thank you.

This policy was developed using a model policy from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and was modified by the DVUSD Wellness Policy Committee. Now we want input from YOU to make the policy the best it can be!

Adults - $3.50 (includes drink)

We are open for breakfast at 8:15-8:45 a.m.
