WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

PTSA SPIRIT NIGHT AT DAIRY QUEEN!:  Our first Spirit Night for the school year is at Dairy Queen on Thursday, September 15^th.    Come to the Dairy Queen location near Walmart on Lake Pleasant Parkway anytime between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm and a portion of the sales will be given back to our school!   Remember to tell them you’re with West Wing School!!

SDOCHS SPIRIT LINE CLINIC:  Come and cheer and dance with the Sandra Day O’Conner Spiritline on October 8^th from 9:00am – 12:00pm in their cafeteria.    Deadline to Register is September 26^th.  The cost is $40 (non-refundable) and includes t-shirt, pom-poms, hair bow and lunch (pizza / drink) for pre-registered participants only.   All participants will be part of the Performance on October 14^th at 6:15pm.   Pick up a registration form from our front office or visit the SDOHS website. 

STUDENT COUNCIL PARENT MEETING:   Monday, September 19^th from 6:00pm – 6:45pm

PTSA’s BINGO NIGHT:  Friday, September 23^rd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in our MPR room.   Come and join us for fun, games and refreshments at our 2^nd Annual Bingo Night.   If you have any beach items to loan (palm trees, coconuts, grass items etc) please contact our PTSA.   They are also looking for volunteers!

BOOSTERTHON KICK-OFF!:  Our annual Boosterthon fund raiser will kick off on October 4^th!  We will have pep-assemblies throughout the day for all grade levels and the Fun Run will take place on October 14^th!  Watch for more information to come home.

SPECIFIC BOOK DONATIONS NEEDED:    The kindergarten through 8th grade teachers are currently learning a new writing curriculum called Lucy Calkins. This curriculum includes using several books to help students improve their writing skills. These books are used as examples to demonstrate a teaching point.  We are asking for your donation to help purchase these books, which will be kept in a special "teacher's only" section of our library and used during writing instruction by ALL teachers in the school.  Please consider purchasing some of the titles shown.  You can find low priced copies on AMAZON!  Your family's name will be on the donation sticker inside the book(s)!   Attached is the Google Doc link to view what is needed.   While in the Google Doc you have the capability to modify the information as you fill the need to ensure the list is kept current.  Please contact shari.mills-zumstein@dvusd.org if you need help or have questions about the list or how to work in Google Docs.    Google Doc Book List:   https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qh74piaXLp2Qn66S8GFGaaZUzDyR5F1I6m3wA21I-2w/edit?usp=sharing

DONATION FOR KINDERGARTEN:  Kindergarten is looking for small pop-up soccer goals and a small (short) basketball hoop.   If you are able to donate please drop it off at the front office or take it directly to one of the kindergarten teachers.

This policy was developed using a model policy from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and was modified by the DVUSD Wellness Policy Committee. Now we want input from YOU to make the policy the best it can be!

Adults - $3.50 (includes drink)

We are open for breakfast at 8:15-8:45 a.m.
