WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

Attention Parents!  Please make sure you are using the parent drop off/pick up loop at the school when dropping off or picking up your student.  Community members have notified the school of an increase in parents parking on residential streets, especially after school.  Specifically, there are concerns over cars parked at 85th Dr. and W Maya Dr., and 84th Dr. and W. Maya Dr.   Please plan on meeting your child at the school drop off loop from now on.  Thank you!

AZMERIT TESTING:   Testing is underway for 3^rd – 8^th grades.   The testing for these grade levels will take the entire month of April to get through all the subjects.   During this time we ask that you refrain from taking vacations or scheduling doctor / dentist appointments on your child’s testing days if at all possible.  We will also be restricting parents or family members from being on campus for lunch.   We’re doing all we can to keep the distractions to a minimum.  Please make sure your child receives enough sleep and eats a good breakfast to help alleviate any testing jitters that are sure to be present.    Please visit the WW website for more detailed information.

BOX TOP COLLECTION:  Wednesday, April 22^nd will be the LAST box top collection for this school year. 

BOX TOP CLIPPING PARTY:  Friday, April 24^th at 9:00 at the Community Center.  Come help organize those box tops with a fun group of ladies.  Bring your sissors!!

PANORAMIC PHOTOS:  Friday, April 24^th our 7th & 8th grades will have their class photos taken.   Get your child and all his/her fellow classmates in one oversized picture to cherish (or laugh at...) forever! Look for a flyer in your students backpack or pick one up in the front office!

TEACHER APPRECIATION:  Teacher Appreciation week begins on Monday, May 4^th.   Let’s show our teachers how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication.   “I wish my teacher knew how much I…” papers will be available in the library and the front office for students to finish the sentence.   We will read the statements on the daily announcements during the month of May so please pick up a slip to fill out with your child while you’re in the office or have your child bring one home.    Our PTSA is planning special daily activities for our teachers and that information will follow as soon as it’s available.

WEST WING CAR MAGNETS:  Our Student Council is selling good looking West Wing School magnets for only $5!    Pick one up from the front office.

What’s Cooking?

At school, there’s always a meal ready to be served!

Some mornings, it’s tough to find the time to make sure your kids are eating a nutritious breakfast. On those days, why not send them to the School Breakfast Program? Each meal meets government nutritional guidelines and standards.  Schools are required to provide a breakfast meal that includes fruit, whole-grain rich items, and low fat or fat free milk. Check your child’s menu to see the variety of nutritious choices available at School Breakfast, or stop by to sample the food yourself!
