Sports

 

To Anyone Interested in Learning About Football:

The OC football program is hosting a 10 day camp for anyone who would like to learn the fundamentals and rules of football. You do not have to be a football player to attend. Come out and experience what high school football players do on a daily basis. Camp is every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm. March 4 through April 10 (excluding spring break). You will receive a t-shirt and shorts, and 10 days of football instruction. Come out, have some fun and

 

Clubs:

 

This past weekend, March 28-30, students from Concert Choir and Honor Choir traveled to California for a choral competition with Worldstrides Heritage Music Festival.  These students have been working diligently all year continuously improving their musical skills. Their hard work has paid off with both Choirs receiving 1st place and Gold ratings (90% or higher) in each of their respective musical category.  Each choir also received the Adjudicator Award for earning a 95% or higher in their performance score. Because of these results, we also received the Choral Sweepstakes Award and were extended an invitation to compete in the National Festival of Gold competition in 2015!!

 

 

"ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS, SOPHOMORES, AND FRESHMEN Eagles!!!  If you are interested in running for Student Government for the 2014-15 school year for your class, you MUST attend one (1) class election meeting for the permission slip and campaign information.  The meetings are:  Thursday, April 3rd and Monday, the 7th BEFORE (after 7 am) and AFTER (220 pm)school.  The meetings should not last more than 20 minutes. STUGO is looking forward to you being a part of our class next year!"

 

 

Freshmen Mentor applications are available in Miss Culley's room (719). They are due April 11th. For more info please attend the informational meeting during 4th and 5th lunch in the mini-auditorium on April 2nd.


 

"GLOW has been rescheduled for Friday, April 11th from 6:30 pm - 9 pm on the main football field.  Over 35,000 glow sticks will fall from a hovering helicopter on the football field for students to have a chance to win amazing prizes.  All proceeds benefit Phoenix Children's Hospital and the event is sponsored by one of O'Connor's amazing supporters, Grand Canyon University!  Come out to support this vital and incredible event!  Tickets for students with ID are $5.00.  See you there!"

 

SOFS Tutoring Opportunity: Mrs. Galbreath, Stetson Hills teacher, needs some middle school math tutors. ***AIMS information***

  • AIMS MATH will be next Tuesday, April 8th.
  • AIMS SCIENCE will be next Wednesday, April 9th.
  • Please check out the Room lists for AIMS testing on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Room lists will be posted on Monday morning in all building lobbies.
  • Please be sure to get a good night's rest and eat a healthy breakfast.  Do your best!
  • If you would like to retake AIMS Math to get an EXCEEDS score please stop by the desk of Kari Beth Paulk no later than 2:45 on Wednesday, April 2.

 

 

Attention all Sophomores and those Juniors and Seniors who still need to pass the math portion of the AIMS test. There will be AIMS practice tests on Saturday April 5th. The practice tests begin at 9:00 AM and conclude at 12 noon.  These are excellent opportunities to take the test in a testing situation. You must sign up prior to the testing dates. You can sign up in the front office at the front desk.

 

 

IMMUNIZATIONS:

If you want a copy of your immunizations, please email Nurse Debbie at debbie.rodrigues@dvusd.org. Please allow 48 hours and bring a photo ID with you to pick them up.

 

 

Health Reminder: DO NOT come to school if you have a fever over 100.0 degrees or if you are vomiting or having diarrhea. You need to stay home for 24 hours.

*****When sending a sick student down to the nurse,  PLEASE make sure they bring all of their belongings with them.

******ALL students MUST have a pass---unless actively bleeding/ vomiting.

******The Health Office closes at 1:20 to student services for PREP//LUNCH. (Emergencies ONLY after 1:20)

******FLU season is upon us.  Please encourage students to cover their coughs and wash hands often!!

 

 

If you have lost any items please check with the conduct office. If you have already checked there and still have a lost item check the Health Center.

 

 

Transcripts

Students that request copies of transcripts for pick up need to allow either Mrs. Kennedy or Mrs. Sartin 24 to 48 hours to process their request. If you have requested paperwork for insurance, Social Security, full time student letters or any other forms to be filled out we also ask for a 24 to 48 hour processing period. Students are responsible for coming back to pick up their paperwork before school, after school or at lunches. A pass will not be sent out.

 

 

 

Attention Seniors and Parents of Seniors:

 

The Senior Awards Ceremony is fast-approaching. All copies scholarship award letters must be submitted to the counseling office no later than Thursday, May 1st to be included in the ceremony program. Don't delay. Turn them in today!

Arizona Science and Engineering Fair

Are you interested in science?  Students at O’Connor have the opportunity to compete in the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair this year, on April 1, 2014.  For the competition, students perform and present their own science fair research project.  Students have the chance to compete in this statewide competition, and possibly win awards!  More information and a sign-up sheet are available in the counseling office.
