New DVUSD Family Resource Center Provides Services and Classes to Local Families
PHOENIX, Ariz. – February 15, 2011 - The Deer Valley Unified School District’s new Family Resource Center in partnership with First Things First is currently providing a broad range of services and classes to all families who reside in Deer Valley. The Resource Center is located at Desert Winds Elementary School located at 19825 N. 15th Ave. Services are also provided at Anthem School located at 41020 NE Freedom Way. Services include:
- Assistance with applications for AHCCCS, WIC, and DES services
- Hearing and dental screening for children ages birth to five years old
- Car seat safety checks
- Interactive parent/child classes through the Arizona Science Center
- Early literacy workshops through PBS/Eight Education Outreach
- Referral services available to health care providers, mental health providers, and community resources
- Early intervention assistance and application services to Child Find, Head Start, and Early Start
