Name of Award: 2011 Region II Champion

Organization: BGHS Chess Team – The Bulldog Chess team won three of three matches on Saturday at Apollo HS. They are the 2011 Region II Champions.

Name of Award: Bellair Elementary School thanks our Library Clerk for her organization and time commitment to a week-long Scholastic Book Fair to bring book ordering convenience to Bellair families and earn campus supplies with proceeds. We also thank our dedicated volunteers who helped to make the event possible.

Full Name:  Boulder Creek Jaguar Pride Marching Band

Title/Grade:  Grades 9-12

Type of Recognition: The Jaguar Pride Band performed at ASU Band Day and received a SUPERIOR WITH DISTINCTION with special caption awards in music performance, visual performance, and general effect. This is the HIGHEST RATING that a band can receive. Only 2 other bands received the same rating out of 28 other bands throughout the day. The band also received the Lillian Williams Award at ASU Band Day for being the high school with the most alumni members in the marching band at ASU!

 

The band also performed at the Barry Goldwater Band Invitational. The Jaguar Pride took 1ST PLACE in their division and received special caption awards in music performance and visual performance.

What: Mountain Ridge High School's STUGO is running the annual Food Drive.  Doug Evans sponsors STUGO and helps organize the food drive on a very large scale.  This year's goal is to collect 250,000 cans. On Friday, October 21st, during the morning show between 6:00 and 6:30 AM, two students Claire Francis and Connor Mattingly will be representing MRHS on the Channel 5 morning news to talk about the food drive.

UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS

What: Paseo Hills School is celebrating its annual Veteran’s Day Celebration.  This event is open to all interested community and family members.  Various presentations are made by the entire student population including the Paseo Hills Band and Choirs.  Local veterans are encouraged to attend.  Several veterans are presenting and speaking in order to honor those who have served as well as provide a real life experience to Paseo Hills students and families.

The campus will be full of fire trucks, motorcycles, SWAT personnel, police, and other community service people.  A “Wall of Heroes” is a moving visual tribute featuring everyday heroes whom our own students choose to honor.  Deer Valley High School’s ROTC color guard will help set the tone of our patriotic celebration.  Lunch is provided, following the regalia, free to all veterans and at a small cost to interested families.  If you have any questions or want to participate on November 10th, please visit the Paseo Hills School Website at https://paseohills.dvusd.org/."

What:  First Annual Terramar Faculty Follies – Come with the whole family to see teachers perform skits, music, dances, wacky talents, and a scene from this year’s school  musical, The Wizard of Oz.  All ticket proceeds help fund the musical.  Tickets are $2 each pre-sale and $3 each at the door.  Pre-sale tickets must be purchased by November 2.
