DVUSD HR Associate Superintendent Chuck Hoover Honored with C.S. Robinson Award

Chuck HooverHuman Resource Associate Superintendent Chuck Hoover in the Deer Valley Unified School District was selected by the American Association of School Personnel Administrators as the recipient of the C.S. Robinson Award. This award is given to school districts that have made an outstanding contribution to the solution of a specific personnel challenge. Mr. Hoover led the Human Resources team to redesign and improve the hiring process in Deer Valley. Quality and performance results included:

 

• As a result of modifications made to the hiring process between 2007-10, the current value of Process Errors were reduced by 36%.

 

• The Average Hiring Cycle time improved by 70% (reduced from 5 days to 1.5 days).

 

• The number of Unfilled Certified Vacancies was reduced from 98% in 2008-09 to 100% fully staffed in 2009-10.

 

• One hundred percent of the teachers in the Teacher Induction program noted that they were supported.

 

• The number of Highly Qualified teachers is now at 100%.

 

This year the recognition is “Innovation in Technology” and the award is based on innovative, comprehensive, and easily replicated strategies developed by school districts to attract and retain high quality teachers. Formal recognition will be made at the AASPA National Conference in October.
