DVUSD Seeks Board Candidates to Fill Vacancy

The Deer Valley Unified School District is looking for candidates interested in filling a vacancy on the Governing Board. Applicants must be a resident of the Deer Valley Unified School District and 18 years or older. Applications are available at the District Office located at 20402 N. 15th Avenue and on the district website at http://www.dvusd.org. Applications must be hand delivered by 1 p.m., Friday, March 4 to Chuck Hoover, Associate Superintendent of Human Resources.

A Collaboration Team, comprised of the Governing Board President, Superintendent, and Teachers Association President will meet to review the applications and select three nominees. The Collaboration Team will also provide opportunities to gather input from the DVUSD community and 4,000 employees.

The District will follow the nomination procedures and process as outlined by the Maricopa County School Superintendent’s Office and posted on the district’s website.

March 4, 1 p.m. – Deadline for applications

March 7, 7 p.m. – District orientation for all candidates, open to the public

March 7, 8 p.m. – Community Forum and Feedback Session with candidates

March 8/9 – Collaboration Team Interviews with candidates

March 10 – Advance Collaboration Team recommendation for nominee, plus alternate name #1 and alternate name #2 to Dr. Don Covey, Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools.

The DVUSD community may follow the progress of conducting the search for the next Governing Board member on the district web site at http://www.dvusd.org.
