Deer Valley Elementary Schools
New River’s fourth quarter awards assemblies were held in each classroom to honor those students who have received Principal’s List and Honor Roll. In the primary grade the student who received all Es were also recognized and celebrated with a school-wide assembly. Certificates were given out for PE, K-kids, student council, band, chorus, and spelling bee.
The K-kids recently completed a community service project which included collecting canned goods to donate to the BBC Food Bank. Students who contributed were allowed to participate in Whacky Hat Day.
New River fourth graders Andi Kaczocha and Casey Cowan were selected by their teachers as TERRIFIC KIDS for the fourth quarter. Each child received a savings bond and certificate from the New River Kiwanis Club.
Deer Valley High Schools
Barry Goldwater will be hosting the "Be the Match Event" on Tuesday, May 25 from 8:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. and 3-7 p.m. in the auditorium. Goldwater junior Michael Renta who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a student in need of a marrow transplant in order to survive. The Goldwater school and community is coming together to try to find Michael a donor.
