Dear Parents & Guardians,

I am sending this second letter to you today because I promised to provide you with updates as we make important decisions that will affect your student.

I have been meeting with leaders throughout the Deer Valley Unified School District, and after much consideration, I have determinded that we will not have the necessary 75%  of our certified staff (teachers) reporting to school on the planned walkout day of Thursday, April 26 to safely keep our schools open. 

All Deer Valley Unified School District schools will be closed starting Thursday, April 26.  All schools will remain closed until we can assure that 75% of certified staff will report to work.

In addition, before/after school care, preschools, and school front offices will also be closed; no Community Education programs will take place.  Free/reduced breakfast and lunch will not be served, however, some parent organizations, churches, and community groups are beginning to discuss how they may be able to provide breakfast and/or lunch for students.

Senior graduation, prom, varsity sports, and student trips may continue as scheduled as long as the proper supervision requirements can be met as determinded by the campus Principal. 

We will contact parents by phone and/or email (if provided to the school) when school will reopen.  This information will also be shared on the district website www.dvusd.org and on social media www.Facebook.com/DVUSD and Twitter@DVUSD.   Please continue to monitor your phone and email for additional instructions.

We are updating the FAQ page on our website at www.dvusd.org/FAQ as information becomes available and as important decisions are made.
