WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

CHOIR CONCERT DATES:   Come hear our wonderful choir perform on Thursday, October 26^th @ 6:30pm in our MPR room.

FALL DANCE:  This dance is for our 6^th – 7^th and 8^th graders.   Friday, October 27^th from 5:00pm – 6:30pm in our MPR.   Tickets will be sold during lunch and are $10 ea.  

MOTHER/SON EVENT: Our PTSA is putting on our annual Mother/Son event Friday, November 3^rd at 6:00pm.  Registration is online ONLY at: www.westwingptsa.com.   The cost is $15.00 per mom/son and $5 each additional son.  The evening includes: pizza, salad, drinks dessert, photo booth, music, games and prizes. 

NEW WEST WING SCHOOL MAGAZINE!: We are excited to announce that we are launching a new magazine exclusively for West Wing School. The name of our new magazine will be determined by our students in the coming weeks, and our goal will be to highlight and celebrate through photos and stories the accomplishments of our students and faculty throughout the year.

The publication will be published six times a year and will be made possible by local businesses that want to be included as sponsors. These businesses will have the opportunity to advertise their skills and expertise to over 1,100 families. We are set to start the ramp up to the first issue, and we would like to offer the business owners that are parents of current West Wing School students the first opportunity to be sponsors in the magazine. If you own or manage a business and would like to have it featured in the new publication, you may text or call 480-204-7934 or email info@kpgconnect.com.

This new publication will give the parents and students the opportunity to see and take part in the successes at the school throughout the year. We look forward to bringing this to you.

WEST WING IS HIRING!!:   There are job positions open at our school. 

Full time para-professional: 8:30am – 3:45pm.  You can view the job description on the DVUSD job postings.  Contact Heather.Marzano@dvusd.org if interested.

NJHS BLANKET DRIVE:  West Wing NJHS is sponsoring a blanket drive and collecting fleece fabric. Participants can either donate a tie-blanket already made or fleece for the NJHS members use to create the tie-blanket. The fabric can either be 1 yard in length for infants or 1 1/2 yard in length for bigger kids. The fabric can be patterned or solid- preferably in bright colors to make tie-blankets for the patients at Banner Thunderbird Pediatric Unit. Cash donations will also be accepted to help us buy fleece. Please give your fabric or donations to classroom teacher.  Cash donations can be given to Ms. Sercl directly- with classroom teacher's name attached. The class with the most fabric/ blankets will win a Grand prize. The NJHS members will help tie the blankets and attach an encouraging message for the patients and families.

STUDENT COUNCIL CARE PACKAGES FOR HEROS:   October 23^rd- November 3^rd:  Student Council is working with Boots in the House to send care packages for troops deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Naval ships and other undisclosed locations around the world.   Please send in protein, granola, microwave items, DVD movies, board games, cards, toiletries just to name a few!   Please see the flyer sent home with your child for all the details.

• October 30^th – November 3^rd:Selling ribbons so students can write the name of a Veteran or an Active Duty Service Member.Ribbons will be tied together on the fence to form the American Flag.Proceeds will pay for the Veteran’s breakfast on November 7th

• Veteran’s Appreciation Assembly:Tuesday, November 7^th at 10:00am.Please invite any and all Veterans or Active Duty Personnel.They will be treated to a complimentary breakfast in their honor at 9:00am before the assembly.

Pick-Up/Drop-Off Procedures:

-If your child is in 1st through 8th grade, they must be dropped off or picked up in the back of the school near the cafeteria.

*Parents are not permitted to use the front parking lot, fire lane, or the bus lane on the side of the school to pick up or drop off children. It is a safety issue.

- If your child is in KINDERGARTEN (plus siblings), they must be dropped off or picked up in the front of the school.

FALL BOOK FAIR:    A HUGE thank you parents, students, staff and volunteers for your generosity during the book fair!!!   We had a record number of gift certificates for our teachers and they were able to shop for many many books for their classroom libraries!   Thank you again for supporting our library.  

BOOSTERTHON:  Please send in any outstanding pledge money this week.  We have collected 80% of our pledges but want to reach 100%.   Getting the pledge is exciting but unfortunately they do not help the school until the school actually receives the money.  Please make checks payable to West Wing PTSA or pay directly on funrun.com.   Thank you!!
