WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!
Hello West Wing Parents-
I am writing to you concerning a very serious situation that is occurring during dismissal time at our school. The DVUSD buses dispatch their stop sign ONLY when students are loading the buses. I am asking you to be aware of the bus signs because the City of Peoria Police stopped in the office today to inform me that traffic violations will be given to anyone who violates and passes the buses while their stop sign is out.
These traffic violations are very costly, they range from $250.00-$1,000.00. He indicated that he will be citing anyone who does not stop while the buses have their signs out per ARS 28-857. Our first responsibility is to keep our children safe and it is imperative that we continue to follow the traffic laws.
I appreciate your attention to this matter.
Best Regards,
Dr. Price-Barry

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS: This is a fun competition for our 5th and 6th grades only. Students team up in groups of three (two is OK also) and read 4 short novels within approx. 2.5 months and then compete against other teams about the stories. It’s a lot of fun for the students and encourages reading!! The L.A. teachers are so excited about this competition and allow the students to use these stories as 1. Part of their required reading 2. Book talk points and 3. Required book reports! So it’s a win win for everyone. Required forms can be obtained through Mrs. Zumstein’s website or picked up from our library. Have your child bring the completed form to the library before September 1st. NOT to worry if your child does not have a team! We will put them on a team. Permission slips and t-shirt orders are due Thursday, August 30th.
