WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

BOX TOPS:   Our PTSA are looking for volunteers to help us clip and count next week.  We will be meeting at 9 am at the community center on Tuesday, February 14th.  Grab some scissors and come join us.  The more hands we have the faster it goes.

AZ MERIT TESTING BEGINS:  Tuesday, March 28^th and continues through April.   Please refrain from scheduling doctor / dentist or vacations during your child’s testing times.   To check your child’s testing days click on the link and follow the instructions.  Thank you!

ATTENTION ARTISTS & THE SUPER CRAFTY:   Do you have some extra time?  Is your creativity busting at the seams?  Want your work to be noticed and truly admired?   We are looking for someone to paint our picnic tables!   If you are interested please contact Dr. Price-Barry at linda.price-barry@dvusd.org.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES:  The week of February 13^th – 17^th.    Please be sure to sign up to meet with your child’s teacher(s). 

EARLY RELEASE:   All grades release at 12:05 pm

Friday, February 17^th – Parent / Teacher conferences

VOLUNTEER TRAINING:  If you are interested in helping on campus or attending a school field trip you must complete a volunteer training course.   This only has to be done one time and you are clear to volunteer on campus or on field trips for as long as your child attends WW.   Our next class is Wednesday, February 15^th at 4:00pm and again at 4:30pm.  

DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE:  Friday, February 24^th from 6:00pm – 8:30pm.  Tickets are on sale starting this week.  Watch for a flyer to come home soon.  Please note we have made some changes to the ticket sales this year.  All tickets must be purchased online.  We will be waiving the convenience fee.  The last day to order will be February 21st.  No late orders will be accepted.  Please visit the Daddy Daughter section of our website at www.westwingptsa.com.

SPRING BOOK FAIR:  During our book fair you can help out your child’s teacher(s) by improving their classroom libraries.   You can either put money (any amount) on a gift certificate and the teacher will choose books at the end of the fair OR simply have your child purchase a book of their choice that they would like to see in their classroom library!   Either way a special “donated by” sticker will be put in the book with your child’s name as the donor.

Fair times:

Monday – Wednesday:  8:30am – 4:00pm

Thursday:                          8:30am – 6:30pm      **Literacy Night and Showcase for Learning night also!

Friday:                                8:30am – 1:00pm

LITERACY NIGHT:  Thursday, March 2^nd from 5:00pm – 6:30pm in our MPR.   There will be games, crafts and photos!   Bring your whole family – this is going to be FUN!

SHOWCASE FOR LEARNING NIGHT:     Thursday, March 2^nd  from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.   This is a school wide event where the community will have an opportunity to see firsthand the wonderfully effective academics that we provide at West Wing School.   Invite your neighbors and friends and come see why West Wing is an “A-Excelling” school! 

KINDERGARTEN SNEAK PEEK:  Thursday, March 2^nd from 5:00pm – 6:00pm in our Kinder classrooms.  Meet the teachers, see what they have planned for your child.   You can register your kindergartner during this event also if you’d like.    Please bring:

-Original birth certificate

-Proof of immunizations

-Proof of residency (APS, Gas or Water bill, Rental agreement or purchase documents)

-Driver’s License

-legal document(s)  (If there’s a special situation)
