WEST WING school NEWS!!
ART SHOW / BAND & CHOIR CONCERT:
Tricia Hilbert is looking for TWO helpers. Click here to sign up on the PTSA Website.
PARENTS: ALL library accounts must be clear on Friday, May 13th. If you have been receiving overdue notices and the book cannot be located please send in payment. If your child feels they have turned in their book(s) have them come and see Mrs. Zumstein. We’re holding a BOOK RETURN CONTEST for each class. If they have clear accounts on their designated day the whole class will win a prize!
CAFETERIA: Lunch accounts must be kept current through the end of the school year. 8th graders will not walk with their class if their cafeteria or library accounts are not clear.
PTSA GENERAL MEETING: Friday, May 13th at 9:00am at the Community Center
FRIDAY, MAY 13TH IS THE 8th GRADE DANCE: 6pm – 8pm in the MPR Permission slips have been handed out and are due back with $10 payment by: Thursday, May 12th.
-Tickets will not be sold at the door.
-Semi Formal (girls: no strapless dresses)
-No cell phones
-Students must be picked up promptly at 8pm. Students may not walk home.
-Chaperones are NEEDED!! Volunteers can click here to sign up on the PTSA Website
KINDERGARTEN PERFORMANCE: Friday, May 20th at 9:30 am in the MPR.
FAMILY NIGHT IN THE MPR: Before and After-care will be hosting a Family Night on Friday, May 20th in the MPR from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Come and enjoy small snacks and fun activities.
FINAL HONOR’S ASSEMBLY: Tuesday, May 24th in the MPR.

8th GRADE PROMOTION PACKETS: All 8th graders were sent home with packets which explain the promotion procedure and other various needs. The front office has some extra packets if you do not have one. **Promotion is NOT being held at West Wing this year. It is at SDOHS at 6:30pm in the main gym.
8th GRADE ONLY EARLY RELEASE: Wednesday, May 25th all 8th graders will be release at 12:05pm
8th GRADE PROMOTION: Wednesday, May 25th at 6:30pm at Sandra Day O’Conner High School’s main gym.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: Thursday, May 26th all students will be release at 12:05pm
SUPPLY KITS FOR 2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR: PTSA is pleased to announce they will be offering the convenient services of Schoolkidz Inc. and their teacher tailored back to school supply kits for next year. Supply kit orders are only online at www.shopttkits.com – Account#95735 and will be accepted until June 3, 2016. Your kit will be available in the classroom on the first day of school.
PTSA WEBMASTER NEEDED: Are you computer savvy? PTSA is looking for someone to help with the PTSA website. Contact them at executiveboard@westwingptsa.com if you are interested. Training will be provided.
SPECIFIC BOOK DONATIONS NEEDED: The kindergarten through 8th grade teachers are currently learning a new writing curriculum called Lucy Calkins. This curriculum includes using several books to help students improve their writing skills. These books are used as examples to demonstrate a teaching point. We are asking for your donation to help purchase these books, which will be kept in a special "teacher's only" section of our library and used during writing instruction by ALL teachers in the school. Please consider purchasing some of the titles shown. You can find low priced copies on AMAZON! Your family's name will be on the donation sticker inside the book(s)! Attached is the Google Doc link to view what is needed. While in the Google Doc you have the capability to modify the information as it is filled to ensure the list is kept current. This policy was developed using a model policy from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and was modified by the DVUSD Wellness Policy Committee. Now we want input from YOU to make the policy the best it can be!
