WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

 

SEE EVERYONE THIS THURSDAY!!

-Literacy Night & Book Swap:     5:00pm – 6:30pm in the MPR

-Showcase for Learning :   Kinder -3rd:     5:00 – 5:45   and    4th – 8th:  5:45- 6:30 

-Book Fair:      8:30am – 7:00pm  in the library

-Student Council Clothing Drive    4:00pm – 7:00pm

-Kindergarten Sneak Peek     5:00pm – 5:45pm in the Kinder classrooms

-Food Trucks   4:00pm – 7:00pm

 

PARKING DURING ALL THE FUN:   Please be considerate of our neighbors by not parking on their streets during the events this Thursday.    The Community Center and the dirt lot will be available as well as Copper Hills Church parking lot.   Thank you!

 

DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE:  Friday, February 26th  from 6:00pm – 8:30pm in our MPR room.   Western theme:  Cowboys and Angels!!!  Girls dress up as angels or cowgirls and dads put on your best cowboy gear!   Tickets are being sold NOW on the PTSA website.  Tickets will not be sold at the door.  Please turn in order form with payment or purchase tickets online by February 17th.   PTSA is looking for volunteers to help with the dance: http://westwing.my-pta.org/

 

GREEN EGGS & HAM:  Our cafeteria will be serving Green Eggs and Ham to all who would like to come on March 2nd from 8:00am – 8:30am.    Students are $1.25 and everyone else is $1.50 ea.   Let’s celebrate together Dr. Seuss and our love for reading!!

 

HELPING BUILD CLASSROOM LIBRARIES:  During our book fairs we try to help our teachers build their classroom libraries.  There are two different ways you can help: 

  1. Your child’s teacher will choose books and put them in their designated bucket for you to pick out and purchase for them while you are at the fairOR

  2. Donating any dollar amount in their name. At the end of the week they will come and choose books for their classroom.This method of donation is done through Scholastic’s “All for Books” program and Scholastic will donate one book to an underprivileged kid for every dollar spent!!The teacher’s will be given the donation slips so they can thank your child for their new book.

 West Wing School is now offering a Fundraising Program provided by Nature's Garden Delivered a local Organic produce delivery company.

We’ve started an exciting new fundraising program with Nature’s Garden Delivered to bring you the finest organically grown fruits and vegetables delivered right to your home! NGD brings the Farmers Market to your door and valuable funds to your school!

NGD offers four different box sizes - Tiny ($29.95), Small ($36.95), Medium ($46.95), or Large ($56.95). Sizes are based on number of servings per box: Tiny (15-20 servings), Small (25-30 servings), Medium (35-40 servings) and Large (45-50 servings). One serving equals approximately one cup. Four different box types are available: Fruit, Veggie, Mixed (fruit and Veggies) and Office (Grab and Go Fruits). Boxes are pre-designed based on season however you have the ability to exchange any item to ensure you get what you want. You may choose between weekly, every other week or one time delivery service.

Every Friday at 12 Noon Nature’s Garden Delivered releases their menu/offerings for the upcoming week. Customers can place orders up until 24 hours before their delivery day. BATTLE OF THE BOOKS:  Our next competition is Monday, March 14th at 2:30 pm in the library.   ALL teams will be in the library competing against each other!  If you would like to attend the competition please RSVP to shari.mills-zumstein@dvusd.org asap.   Thank you.   

 

AZ MERIT TESTING:   Begins Tuesday, March 29th and continues through Wednesday, April 20th.   While testing is underway we will not be able to allow volunteers on campus nor will we be able to have parent visits.   Please refrain from scheduling doctor or dentist appointments on their testing days.   It is important that all students arrive at school on time and are not taken early from school.   To help with scheduling the following are the testing dates for your child’s grade level:

3rd Grade:  March 30th, April 4th, April 8th, April 13th

4th Grade:  March 29th, April 5th, April 14th, April 18th

5th Grade:  April 6th, April 14th

6th Grade:  April 7th, April 15th

7th Grade:  March 31st, April 11th, April 19th

8th Grade:  April 1st, April 12th,  April 20th
