WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

 

 

BASKETBALL GAMES:  Games start approx. 4:15- 4:30pm

Thursday, January 21st:  Quarter Finals

Monday, January 25th:  Semi Finals

Wednesday, January 27th:  Division Championships

 

100th DAY OF SCHOOL!!:   On January 22nd we will hit our 100th day of school.   We are over half way through the school year!!  Is this year flying by or what?!

 

KINDNESS WEEK:  West Wing School is kicking off its Kindness Week with an assembly on Friday, January 22nd.   Starting Monday, January 25th our students will each be given a checklist to help them perform as many acts of kindness as they can while on campus.   They are encouraged to continue what they’ve learned at home and in their communities.   There will be recess activities, a spirit week, Kindness Quote of the Day, school door decorating etc. 

Monday:  Crazy for Kindness – dress in all blue

Tuesday: Kindness Rocks - wear your rock n roll t-shirts

Wednesday:  Nothing Beats Kindness – sports teams

Thursday:  Ride the Kindness Wave – beach and surf wear

Friday:  Dreaming of a Kind World – PJ’s

 

BOYS BASEBALL CAMP:   Monday, February 1st through Friday, February 5th at 3:45pm.    The cost is $40 payable to West Wing School.   Please come dressed in athletic wear and cleats (if you have cleats).   No collared shirts or jeans.   Deadline to join is Friday, January 29th.   Required paperwork is in the front office and must be completed by the 1st practice.  

 

NO SCHOOL:  Wednesday, February 3rd for staff development

 

7th & 8th GRADE DANCE:   Sponsored by our Student Council is Friday, February 5th !!

6:00pm – 8:00pm in our MPR room.    “Midnight in Paris” This is a formal dance so boys should be in suits and ties and girls should be in dresses or skirts (keeping our dress code in mind).   The cost is $10 which includes pizza, drinks, chocolate fountain station, photo booth and a professional DJ.    Tickets will be sold during their lunch period in the cafeteria January 27th – February 5th.   Tickets will not be sold at the door. 

 

SPRING PICTURE DAY:  Tuesday, February 9th

 

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES:   Week of February 8th    

 

EARLY RELEASE:  Thursday, February 11th AND Friday, February 12th for parent / teacher conferences.    All grades will be release at 12:05pm.

 

NO SCHOOL:  Monday, February 15th in observance of President’s Day

 

SPRING BOOK FAIR:   Monday, February 22nd – Friday, February 26th in our library.

Monday – Wednesday:   8:30am – 4:00pm

Thursday:    8:30am – 7:00pm

Friday:   8:30am – 1:00pm

Our library gets to keep a percentage of all sales and this is what we use purchase new books, replace lost or damaged books and supplies to repair them.   Please come visit and support our library.   Thank you!

 

LITERACY NIGHT:    Thursday, February 25th 5:00pm – 6:30pm in our MPR room.   West Wing will have lots of fun planned to encourage reading.   Please contact Christina Riccitelli if you are interested in volunteering:  Christina.riccitelli@dvusd.org or 623-376-5053.    

 

SHOWCASE FOR LEARNING NIGHT:   This is an evening the community will have an opportunity to see firsthand the wonderfully effective academics that we provide at West Wing School.   Invite your neighbors and friends and come see why West Wing is an “A-Excelling” school!  5:00pm – 6:30pm in all grade level classrooms. 

 

 KINDER SNEEK PEEK NIGHT:   If you have a kinder or you know of a friend or neighbor who will have a kinder starting next school year this is a great time to bring them to meet our kinder teachers and see what West Wing has planned for those students.   This will take place in our kinder classrooms starting at 5:00pm – 6:30pm. 

 

CLOTHING DONATION DRIVE:  Our PTSA is holding a clothing drive on Thursday, February 25th from 5:00pm – 6:30pm.   You know the rule:   If you haven’t worn it in over a year you’re not going to!!    This is a good time to clean out those closets and bring in all those shirts, shoes, pants and skirts that someone else will get good use of!     

 

DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE:  Friday, February 26th  from 6:00pm – 8:30pm in our MPR room.   This is a PTSA sponsored dance and they are looking for volunteers.   Please go the PTSA page on the WW website for more information and to volunteer.  

 

DONATIONS: We are looking for donations of Leap Pad Readers, books, and cartridges and/or Franklin Spell Checks  for our younger students to use for reading, phonics and number fluency the classroom.  If you have any used or new Leap Pad Readers or Franklin Spell Checks you are willing to donate, please send them in.  Thank you for your continued support!
