WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!
NJHS FOOD DRIVE: Our NJHS students are conducting a food drive through December 9th. Classrooms will earn points for every can or bag of unperishable food items they bring in and the class with the most points will win a prize. Classrooms will earn extra points for bringing in the following items on the specified date:
Wednesday, December 2nd: Ramen noodles / canned soup
Thursday, December 3rd: Beans / Rice
Friday, December 4th: Cereal
Monday, December 7th: Canned fruit
Tuesday, December 8th: non perishable snacks
Wednesday, December 9th: bring anything non-perishable
CHRISTMAS ANGELS: Our 4th graders will be going to Arrowhead Mall next week to shop for the Christmas Angels. This Friday, December 4th every student who brings in $1 to donate towards this charity earns them the ability to wear PJ’s or a hat for the entire day.
Kinder – 3rd grades: wear PJ’s and bring a stuffed animal to school
5th – 8th wear a hat all day
PE FUND RAISER: Our PE department is selling Jingle Bells for $1 each to raise money to buy PE Equipment. The week before winter break our PE department will hold a “Reindeer Run” where the students will wear their jingle bells while running.
DONATIONS: We are looking for donations of Leap Pad Readers, books, and cartridges for our younger students to use for reading, phonics and number fluency the classroom. If you have any used or new leap pad readers you are willing to donate, please send them in. Thank you for your continued support!

WINTER BREAK- NO SCHOOL: Monday, December 21st through Friday, January 1st. Have a safe and wonderful holiday.
3RD – 5TH GRADE GIRLS: Girls on the Run is returning to West Wing! Girls in 3rd – 5th grades will meet twice a week (Monday and Wednesday) from 7:00am – 8:30am and learn life skills through fun activities and engaging lessons. If your child is interested in joining pick up a flyer from the front office or contact Tracy Heath at tracy.heath@dvusd.org. Registration is December 5th – 19th at www.gotrmc.org. The season starts February 10, 2016.
CHOIR CONCERT: Thursday, December 10th at 6:30pm in our MPR room.
EARLY RELEASE: Friday, January 8th Staff Development. All grades will release at 12:05pm.
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS COMPETITION: Our next competition is scheduled for Monday, January 11th at 2:30pm. Parents are invited to watch but please RSVP to Mrs. Zumstein by Thursday, January 4th so seating can be arranged. Shari.mills-zumstein@dvusd.org or 623-376-5013. Thank you!!
