WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!
Chick-fil-a Spirit Day: Tuesday, November 10th Arrowhead Chick-fil-a 20% of the profits will go to West Wing PTSA. Must show the flyer in order to get credit. Extra flyers available in the front office.
Donations: We are looking for donations of Leap Pad Readers, books, and cartridges for our younger students to use for reading, phonics and number fluency the classroom. If you have any used or new leap pad readers you are willing to donate, please send them in. Thank you for your continued support!
SPIRITLINE NEWS: Pictures will be Tuesday, November 10th in the MPR at 3:40 p.m.
Next Thursday, November 12th we will be hosting practice since we are off Wednesday
NO SCHOOL: Wednesday, November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day
SDOHS FUTURE FRESHMAN NIGHT: Monday, November 16th starting at 5:30pm SDOHS will have a Future Freshman Night for our 8th graders. Please check Sandra Day O’Conner’s website for details.
Student Council: Monday, November 16th, WW is raising money to buy turkeys for the Deer Valley Family Resource Center. Have your child participate in Hat Day by donating $1 or more to buy turkeys for families in need on Thanksgiving. We are also selling Turkey Grams so that your child may send their friends a special message of gratitude! Turkey Grams will be for sale before and after school for only $1.00 and include a special treat! Help support our goal to donate enough money to purchase at least 100 turkeys this season! If you would like to make a donation, please make checks payable to West Wing Student Council. Send into school in an envelope marked Student Council Turkey Fundraiser to your child’s teacher. All proceeds will be donated to the Deer Valley Family Resource Center. Thanks for your support!!
Annual Thanksgiving Feast: Thursday, November 19th please join our students in celebrating our Thanksgiving Feast. Find out what time your students goes to lunch, check in with the office and meet with them at the Cafeteria or Classroom.
Price for lunch will be $3.50 includes a drink. Siblings cost is $2.60. PLEASE BRING CORRECT CHANGE. Your feast will include:
Roast Turkey Dinner Roll Mashed Potatoes Green Beans Applesauce Pumpkin Pie
News from PTSA: We will once again be selling Harkins Loyalty Cups and T-Shirts this year. The cost is exactly the same as purchasing directly from the theater but West Wing earns a portion of the money and best of all we deliver them right to you! These make great gifts! Watch for information coming home soon!
We are looking for volunteers to help serve the cafeteria’s Thanksgiving feast on 11/19 and to help the student’s shop at our Holiday House in December. If you can help, please sign up on our website http://westwing.my-pta.org/content.asp?PageID=2
Thanks again to everyone for supporting this year Fun Run and Color Run. We are at 95% collected but want to reach our goal of 100%. Please send in any outstanding pledge money.
THANKSGIVING BREAK: No School Monday, November 23rd – Friday, November 27th. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
TEAM PHOTOS: Basketball and Spirit Line photos will be taken on Tuesday, November 10th at 3:45pm in the MPR. Make sure you have your uniforms with you.
PTSA GENERAL MEETING: Friday, November 20th at 9:00am at the Community Center our PTSA will have their monthly meeting. Come and see what our fabulous PTSA has planned for our school!

Enter our “Eat the Rainbow” Art Contest for a Chance to Win a New Bike!
Eating a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, or a rainbow of color, is a good way to make sure your body is getting all the nutrients it needs from the fruit and vegetable food groups. The Deer Valley Food & Nutrition Department will be hosting an art contest where students will be able to creatively show us what it means to “eat the rainbow” for a chance to win a new bike.
Artwork showing what it means to “Eat the Rainbow” can be submitted in the form of pictures, paintings, sculptures, drawings….the more colorful and creative the better!
Who can win? A winner will be chosen from each school at the K-8 levels.
What needs to be submitted with the artwork? Student name, school name, and lunch
pin must be given to the café manager.
When is the deadline for submissions? Friday, November 13th
àWinners will be announced December 7th-11th at each school.ß
