WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!
FALL BOOK FAIR: Our fall book fair is underway! Please stop by and visit us while you’re on campus visiting your child’s teachers. Our book fair is also ONLINE. Orders will be shipped directly to the school and will be distributed to your child when it arrives. Please see the library’s website for more information.
Book Fair Hours:
Wednesday 8:30am – 6:30pm
Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm Kookies with your Kids from 1:00 – 4:00 (while supplies last)
Friday 8:30am – 1:00pm
Teacher’s Wish Lists: If you’d like to help your child’s teacher build their classroom library by purchasing a book from our Book Fair you can!!! We have two ways to do this now.
Wish List Buckets: The teachers have pulled books they would like to have and placed them in a bucket at the fair. You simply choose a book from their bucket and we’ll give you a label to put inside showing the teacher’s name and your child’s name.
Gift Certificates: Pouches are located on a board right outside the book fair and you choose the dollar amount you’d like to give the teacher, bring it to the cash register and before the book fair ends the teacher will come in and buy items using your donation! They will be given labels to put in the books they choose showing your child’s name.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES: You can meet with your child’s teacher this week! If you have not received information from your child’s teacher and you want to schedule a meeting please contact them to set up a time. You can find their e-mail addresses and phone numbers on our website.
BOOSTERTHON FUN RUN: Thank you for participating in this year's Mustang Fun Run at West Wing school. As of right now we have collected 86% of what was pledged. That is great! But we still have over $8000 in outstanding pledges. Please help us reach our 100% collection goal. The second due date for pledges is Friday, October 23. Checks can be written to West Wing PTSA. They can be turned into the office or with your student to their teacher. Sponsors can pay online if an email was entered at the time of the pledge. Thank you for your enthusiasm this year
BOX TOP COLLECTION: Our first Box Tops and Labels for Education collection of the year is coming up on October 21st. Please submit them to your classroom with your child's name written on the envelope or bag. We appreciate your support! Those 10 cents really add up when we all work together to turn them in. We are looking for volunteers to help count box tops Friday, October 23rd. Our Vice President, Stephanie Ditner has generously opened her home. If you are interested, please email us at executiveboard@westwingptsa.com.
BASKETBALL TRYOUTS: Tryouts will begin Monday, October 26th – Wednesday, October 28th after school in the MPR. If your child is interested in trying out either pick up a packet from the front office or go to the WW website under Athletics and print them off. Remember all sports require permission slips and physical exams to be completed prior to the first practice.
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS: Our first competition is scheduled for Monday, November 2nd at 2:30pm in the library. Please make sure your child has back up plans just in case the competition runs past 3:30pm. This competition is a first for your kids as well as Mrs. Zumstein so we’re not sure what to expect. Better to be prepared with an alternate pick up source if your child relies on the bus to get home. Any questions please contact Shari Zumstein at shari.mills-zumstein@dvusd or 623-376-5013. Parents are welcome to attend the competition but we will need a head count. Please RSVP before October 26th.
