WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

BOOSTERTHON FUN RUN:  Our Mustang fun run and color run are coming up fast on October 8th!  Have you registered at funrun.com and entered in your pledges?  This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we are looking to get iPads and Laptops into each of the classrooms to assist in day to day learning.  Did you also know that 10% of what each classroom brings in will go back directly to that classroom?  The money we earn will be able to do great things for our students.  Thank you for your support!

BOOSTERTHON VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:   PTSA is looking for volunteers to help out the day of the Boosterthon Fun Run.  We need parents to help hand out waters, mark laps and spray color.  Please visit the volunteer section of our website to sign up.  http://westwing.my-pta.org/content.asp?PageID=2

COMING IN FROM OUR PRINCIPALS:

Dear Parents,

This is a friendly reminder that our gates for afternoon pick-up do not open until 3:15.   If you arrive between 3:15 and 3:30, there is often a great deal of traffic congestion.  You may want to consider driving through parent pick up slightly later, at 3:35 or 3:40.  The weather is cooling off, so you may also want to consider walking to meet your student.  Please be advised that if you choose to park in the neighborhood to wait, you may receive a ticket from the Peoria Police.  Our teachers are working diligently to load up cars as quickly as possible.  Here are a few additional tips for speeding up this process:

1.  Keep a paper with your children's names in the front window so the teachers can quickly glance and call for your child.

2.  Encourage your student to walk immediately to parent pick up rather than stopping and talking to friends or staying behind in the classroom.

3.  If your child tends to walk slowly to parent pick-up, consider arriving a little later to give them a chance to get out to the basketball courts.

4.  Remind your child to sit or stand at the edge of the basketball court quietly so they can hear their name being called.

Dismissal is a busy time of day, and we so appreciate your support in helping us clear our campus safely and efficiently.

Sincerely,

West Wing Administration
