WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!
FOOD DRIVE: Student Council is holding one last event this year that we need EVERYONE to help with! Please donate nonperishable food to the St. Mary's Food Bank. Kids can bring in food all week to help the food bank make it through the summer and assist families in need. Thank you for your generosity and for supporting Student Council!
LIBRARY BOOKS: All library books are due back at this time. If your child has a book or books that cannot be located then we will have to ask for payment. If your child feels they have returned their book(s) please contact Mrs. Zumstein and ask her to double check the library. Shari.mills-zumstein@dvusd.org or 623-376-5013. Student accounts must be clear before May 28th. Report cards will be held until the account is clear.
CAFETERIA: Lunch accounts must be clear ($0) prior to May 27th in order for any 8th grader to be able to walk with their classmates during the promotion ceremony.
NURSE’S OFFICE: Parents: please remember to pick up any medications by 3:00pm on May 28th. Medications must be picked up by an adult. Any medications not picked up by this time will be disposed of.
MAY 26TH – 28TH: Please NO BACKPACKS on campus the last week of school.
PLASTIC BOTTLE TOP COLLECTION: Mrs. Swingle (2nd grade teacher) is collecting ANY and ALL plastic bottle tops (water bottles, milk jugs, medicine bottles, sports drinks etc.) for chemotherapy patients. For every bottle top turned in ONE MINUTE of chemotherapy will be provided FREE OF CHARGE to those who are unable to afford this type of treatment! DID YOU KNOW that a plastic bottle with the cap ON cannot be recycled?! In order to be truly “green” we need to remove the caps from our plastic bottles and put them in the recycle bin separately.
2015-16 SPORTS: If your child will be a 7th or 8th grader next year and is interested in playing sports please pick up a sports packet from the front office. Volleyball will be starting up early in the new school year and it’s a good idea to have your child’s physical and necessary paperwork filled out and ready to go. The physical is good for the entire school year.
NO SCHOOL: Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day

FROM OUR CAFETERIA:
School Breakfast is Cool!
Everyday is a perfect day for school breakfast!
As the summer approaches, kids often become more restless and distracted at school. You can help to make sure that their last weeks of school are productive by ensuring that they begin the day with a nutritious breakfast. Studies show a good breakfast makes kids more alert, less distractible, and better behaved in school; it can even improve their test scores!
Let’s keep our students focused by making sure they begin every school day with a balanced meal at home or at the School Breakfast Program.
