WEST WING SCHOOL NEWS!!

 

SUPPORT OUR POLICE:   Communities around our country are showing their support for police officers by tying blue ribbons to their trees and/or changing their outside house lights to shine blue.  Let’s show our police officers they matter to us by doing the same.   West Wing School will be dedicating the week of January 26th for this purpose.

HONOR ROLL / CHARACTER COUNTS ASSEMBY:  Friday, January 16th in the MPR room

9:00am grades 1st & 2nd

9:20am grades 3rd & 4th

10:00am grades 5th & 6th

2:30pm grades 7th & 8th

 

**NOTE:  Honor Rolls students will have a treat with Mrs. Mabee and Principal’s List students will have a sandwich, chips and drink with Dr. Price-Barry on TUESDAY, JANUARY 20TH during their scheduled lunch times.

 

BOX TOP COLLECTION:  The next box top collection will be Wednesday, January 21st.  Be sure to turn in your box tops to your child’s teacher!!

 

FUTURE FRESHMAN NIGHT AT O’CONNER HIGH:  Wednesday, January 21st Sandra Day O’Conner High is hosting their “Future Freshman Night” for all 8th graders who plan to attend SDOH.  Students who last names are A-L start at 5:30pm and M-Z start at 6:30.   Meet in the Auditorium. 

 

**DATE & TIME CHANGE FOR SHOWCASE FOR LEARNING NIGHT:     This is an evening the community will have an opportunity to see firsthand the wonderfully effective academics that we provide at West Wing School.   Invite your neighbors and friends and come see why West Wing is an “A-Excelling” school!

Kindergarten – 8th grade is Thursday, January 22ND   from 5:00 – 6:00pm

We will have KINDERGARTEN SNEEK PEEK during this time as well so bring your neighbors or anyone you know who has a child starting kindergarten to see what West Wing has planned for our kids!!  They can register their child while they are here!

 

MONDAY, JANUARY 19TH No School in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.

 

GREAT SKATE EVENT:   Our PTSA is putting on a Great Skate Event for Tuesday, February 3rd  from 6:00 – 8:30pm (no school on February 4th).  The cost is $6.00 which includes admission and skate rental.

 

PARENTS / STUDENTS:  in efforts to minimize classroom interruptions the following will be implemented again this year: 

  1. Forgotten homework, books, library books, progress reports and permission slips will ONLY be put in the teacher’s mailbox to be picked up at the end of the day.  We will not disrupt the classroom for these items.
  2. Students with LARGE instruments that are not allowed on the bus may be dropped off at the front office.
  3. Parents may help their child carry large projects to the classroom before or after school.
  4. The following will not be held or accepted at the front office:

-instruments – unless they are too large and was not allowed on the bus.

      5.  During the school day we will only call / email the classroom for the following items:

Make giving your kids a healthy breakfast every day one of your New Year’s resolutions.

 

If you’re short on time in the morning or your kids aren’t hungry when they wake up, send them to school for breakfast. Healthy food choices are available every morning in the cafeteria for ALL students.  We cannot wait to see them there!

 

Help your kids to make this semester a success - encourage them to eat breakfast!
