DVUSD News - Go for the Gersters - Details about the event added

The daughter of Ms. Gerster, a Sierra Verde 1st grade teacher and former Esperanza teacher, was involved in a serious sledding accident over winter break. Katrina, a 17 year old MRHS student, has a positive spirit; however, as a result of the accident, she has no feeling in her legs.
Sierra Verde, in conjunction with Mountain Ridge High School, Esperanza Elementary, and the Glendale Fire Department will be hosting a charity event to raise money for the family during this difficult time. Go for the Gersters, a 2.5 walk/run, will be held Saturday, February 2, at 10:00 am. The event begins and ends at Sierra Verde. There will be a $1.00 donation/admission fee and drawing tickets will also be available for guests to earn fun prizes. An account, 6000169874, has also been established at Desert Schools Federal Credit Union.
2.5 mile race- 10:00 am
2.5 mile walk - 10:10 am
1.0 mile fun run- 10:20 am
Parking: Additional Parking will be available at Church of Joy, located at 75th Avenue and Rose Garden. Please carpool if possible as parking close to the school is limited. Drawing: We have several amazing prizes to give away. Tickets will be on sale for $1.00 each. Food: Bagels and pastries will be sold during the event. T-Shirts: A limited number of Go for the Gersters t-shirts will be available for $10.00 Fun!: DJ on site; DV Honors Jazz Band at Fire Station; Fire Truck, Spiritline, and more
