The daughter of Ms. Gerster, a Sierra Verde 1st grade teacher and former Esperanza teacher, was involved in a serious sledding accident over winter break. Katrina, a 17 year old MRHS student, has a positive spirit; however, as a result of the accident, she has no feeling in her legs.

Sierra Verde School, in conjunction with Mountain Ridge High School, Esperanza Elementary, and the Glendale Fire Department will be hosting a charity event to raise money for the family during this difficult time. Go for the Gersters, a 2.5 walk/run, will be held Saturday, February 2, at 10:00 am. The event begins and ends at Sierra Verde. There will be a $1.00 admission fee and drawing tickets will also be available for guests to earn fun prizes. An account, 6000169874, has also been established at Desert Schools Federal Credit Union.

Thank you to those of you who have already supported Ms. Gerster and her daughter. She truly appreciates the love from Deer Valley. We hope to see you all at the starting line!
