(winners must be DVUSD K – 12th students and must be present to win)
This exciting event will take place on Saturday, March 10th , 2012 at Sandra Day O’Connor High School. The cost is $5.00 per person and the intent for the Walk is to put a spotlight on the importance of education and to highlight the Deer Valley School District’s 37 schools and 36,000 students. Vendors will also be present to supply information on schools, summer programs, community colleges, student services, family events, health screenings, etc.
The walk is either 3 or 5 miles. The 3 mile walk is around the track so you can do as little or as much as you want. The 5 mile walk goes around the track for 1 loop then up around the back of the O’Connor High School campus. It’s a very pretty walk on a paved path up against the mountains. They say you will have a good chance of seeing some wildlife on the 5 mile walk.
We are inviting all students and their families to take part in the walk. And, DVUSD students (must be a DVUSD K – 12th grade student and must be present to win) who participate in the walk have a chance to win an iPad a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, D-back tickets, etc…!
The school with the most participants will receive $150 from DVEF!
The Deer Valley Education Foundation raises funds for educational enrichment programs for the students and teachers of the Deer Valley School District. Thanks to DVEF funding, students are presented with science challenges and math projects, doors are opened to music appreciation, art is showcased, and history is brought alive for thousands of students in our Deer Valley Schools. Future astronauts and pilots attend Space Camp through our scholarships and high school students interested in the health care field are offered dual enrollment and CTE scholarships. We also honor our teachers and school nurses each year with our Teacher of the Year and School Nurse of the Year celebrations and awards.
We greatly appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you on Saturday, March 10th!
