Anthem School Named National ACE School of the Year by Civil Air Patrol

May 18, 2011 – Anthem School in the Deer Valley Unified School District (DVUSD) has been selected as the National Aerospace Connections in Education (ACE) School of the Year by the Civil Air Patrol. Anthem will be presented with its award Monday, May 23 at 9:15 a.m. by Colonel Feltz from the Civil Air Patrol. Anthem School is located at 41020 NE Freedom Way in Anthem.

Other recognitions include kindergarten student Kenny Kauffman being named the National ACE Student of the Year who will also be presented with a plaque. Kauffman was nominated by his teacher Melissa Schmitt for his passion of aerospace and goal of being an astronaut when he grows up. In order to be named 2010-11 CAP National ACE Student of the Year, a nominee must exhibit dedication to academics, excellence in character, a healthy and drug-free lifestyle and, of course, a keen interest in aerospace.

Certificates will also be presented to Anthem student cadets graduating from the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program. At the end of the event, a model rocket will be launched over 1,500 feet high for all students and parents to see in celebration of Anthem’s achievements.
