  • Investigations of the Sun - Students studied shadows and analyzed changes to their own shadows made throughout the day and applied their findings to understanding predictable patterns of the Sun.
  • Engineering Design Process (Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create and Improve) – Students learn through their investigation of various celestial bodies found in the Solar System. Students must complete presentations that involve learning about a specific celestial body through online research, books, and graphs are currently underway. The information gleaned from the research will help foster their imagination and creativity as they plan and design a spacecraft appropriate to a space mission of their choice

With purposeful student-driven assessment pieces already built in through the use of technology, Sierra Verde teachers can readily observe their students independently using immediate feedback for self-assessment, practice and knowledge by using clickers. Clickers are used to give students opportunities to test their understanding against their peers in an anonymous way which leads to higher student engagement without the risk of failure.
