Deer Valley Elementary Schools

Desert Winds Elementary

Desert Winds will be hosting an Open House on Thursday, August 12 from 5-7 p.m. for all students and parents to attend.

Highland Lakes School

Highland Lakes will be hosting Move-Up-Day on Monday, May 24. Students will have an opportunity to meet the teachers of their upcoming grade level however they will not be notified of their specific teacher at this time.

Highland Lakes has scheduled a promotion practice for all eighth graders on Wednesday, May 26. All eighth graders will be dismissed at 12:05 p.m. that day to prepare for the promotion ceremony that evening.

New River Elementary

New River will be celebrating Kids at Hope Report Card Day on Wednesday, May 19. This is a day when students receive �report cards� that focus on talents and their future.

Sierra Verde School

Sierra Verde will be hosting the following events in May:

Friday, May 21, 6-8 p.m. - Promotion Celebration in the Multipurpose Room Wednesday, May 26, 8:45-9:40 a.m. - Promotion Breakfast and Academic Celebrations Wednesday, May 26, 9:40 a.m. � 12:05 p.m. - Closed Door Promotion Practice (8th Graders Only) Wednesday, May 26, 5 p.m. - Promotion Ceremony in the Multipurpose Room

Stetson Hills School

Stetson Hills will be celebrating its A+ School of Excellence Award with a special ceremony on Wednesday, May 19 at 9:15 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room. The Arizona Educational Foundation will be presenting the school with an award and a $500 check.

Stetson Hills would like to help celebrate a child�s special event with a $15 book donation to the Stetson Hills library. The Special Event Book Club is offering families an opportunity to hand select a new book celebrating their child�s special event such as a birthday, good grades, or winning game and donating it to the Stetson Hills School Library.

Stetson Hills students participated in the state PTSA sponsored Reflections Art Contest. The following students received an Award of Excellence at the school level: (Literature Category) Delaney Kelly for Dance; Madison Lynch, Breana Miller, Kelly Anderson, Tressa Teetsel, Taylor Targioni, and Erin Shoffer; (Photography Category) Durum Gust, Kira McCullough, Katlyn Snapp, Tressa Teetsel, Alexandria Glannini, and Taylor Eddleman; and (Visual Arts Category) Ashley Becker, Caroline Pappalau, Kelly Anderson, Joseph Eagen, Elaina Corbin, and JoAnna.

Deer Valley High Schools
Mountain Ridge High School

Mountain Ridge senior Meghan Marie Kinney was awarded the 2010 Nell Wilcoxen Future Educator Scholarship in the amount of $850 from the Arizona Educational Association Foundation for Teaching and Learning. She was presented with a certificate at the Salute to Excellence Dinner last month at the Phoenix Marriott Mesa Hotel. Kinney will be attending Arizona State University next year.
