CAMPUS GOAL

By May of 2019 we will decrease the total percentage of D/F’s in literacy and math school wide by 25% (from May of 2018 percentages) as evidenced by a score of four or better on the end of course level of achievement marks.

Learner Profile Trait for October

Barry Goldwater is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school.  As such we aspire to fulfill the traits embodied in the Learner Profile. Each month we will highlight and celebrate one of these traits.

The Learner Profile trait that we will focus on for the month of October is Inquirer.  We nurture our curiosity, developing skills for inquiry and research. We know how to learn independently and with others. We learn with enthusiasm and sustain our love of learning throughout life.

The Learner Profile Quote of the Day is:  “Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do, and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.”  -- Gen. George S. Patton

Seniors planning to attend ASU next year are encouraged to consider the Leadership Scholarship Program.  LSP is a four year leadership program that provides students with an institutional scholarship worth $40,000 over 4 years.  Students are given many opportunities to discover more about themselves, the leadership skills they possess and explore the opportunities and responsibilities of leadership.  BGHS can only nominate one student.  See your counselor if you are interested in finding out more about this great opportunity.

All Students and parents are invited to attend the Selective Colleges Admissions Panel at Chaparral High School Auditorium on Tuesday, October 23rd from 6:30 – 8 pm.  This is an open discussion for questions and information from local interviewers from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Stanford, Dartmouth and Duke University. Students who do not have an application submitted, processed and approved will go to full pay status beginning September 20th. You will be responsible for the full payment of your meals. Applications may be submitted any time during the school year. Submitting an application does not guarantee free meal status.
