CAMPUS GOAL

By May of 2018 we will decrease the total percentage of D/F’s in literacy and math school wide by 25% (from May of 2017 percentages) as evidenced by a score of four or better on the end of course level of achievement marks.

 

Fun Fact:  DVUSD scored higher on the AZMerit tests than the state average and charter schools.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS TO THE BULLDOG BARK

Attention Seniors:  The Panoramic Picture will be taken on Wednesday, February 14 at 7:30 AM.  Cap and gown pictures will be take in the Auditorium Lobby during both lunch periods on the same day. Remember to bring your money and order forms.

 

BGHS Theatre will be selling Shakespeare Sonnet Grams for $1 each. Choose from a selection of Shakespeare's sonnets to be delivered to classes on Valentine's Day to a friend or a significant other. You may choose to have it read in a serious, sweet manner or a comedic, over-the-top manner. Grams are sold during 4th and 5th lunches Friday, Monday and Tuesday before Valentine's Day. Thank you for your support of BGHS Theatre!

 

Have a special someone you would like to send flowers to their class on Valentine’s Day? Spiritline will be selling flowers at both lunches Friday, Monday and Tuesday. The flowers are $2, stop by the table to place your order.

 

Come celebrate with your sweetheart TONIGHT from 6-8 PM at The Shops at Norterra's annual Valentine's Vintage Car Show!  Activities include a cars show and hot air balloon glow on Main Street, live music, kids crafts and face painting, plus free food samples, giveaways, prizes and more!  Bring the attached flyer or sign in at the Red Tent during the event to earn 500 bonus points for BGHS!

 

Anthem Community Center summer camp is now hiring for camp counselors. Information is on the bulletin board in the Counseling Office or you can contact Brienne McDowell at 623-879-3012 for questions.

 

Anthem Community Center will also be holding Lifeguard Classes. See the bulletin board in the Counseling Office for more information.

 

LATE START DAY  

Attention Juniors:  This is just a reminder that on February 27th you will be taking the ACT test here on campus.  Testing starts at 7:35 a.m. for Juniors.    School starts at 11:50 a.m. for all other students. 

 

FROM ATHLETICS

ATHLETIC CLEARANCE:  For anyone interested in trying out for a Spring Sport, please make sure your athletic clearance packets have been completed and turned in to the Athletic Office by Friday, February 2nd.

 

Hype Squad shirts are now available in the bookstore for $10 before school, after school or during your lunch.  Wear your Hype Squad shirt and bring your school ID to any home game and your entry fee will be only $1.  We now have large sized shirts available!

BGHS offers peer tutoring for all subjects in the media center after school from 2:17-3:15. Tutoring days will vary week by week so check the printed calendar on the library doors to see what days tutoring is offered.

VALENTINE'S VINTAGE CAR SHOW:  February 9, 2018 * 6-8 PM ~ Celebrate with your sweetheart at The Shops at Norterra's annual Valentine's Vintage Car Show!  Activities include a cars show and hot air balloon glow on Main Street, live music, kids crafts and face painting, plus free food samples, giveaways, prizes and more!  Bring this flyer to the event to earn 500 bonus points for BGHS ~ remember to put BGHS on the flyer!  If you don’t have a flyer, just sign in at the Red Tent!  Hope to see you there!

There are many opportunities for Bonus points too!  The more points we earn the higher our cash grant will be!

STUDENT INFORMATION

Dress Code:   Any attire that detracts from the learning environment is not acceptable.  Shirts and tops may not expose bare midriffs, bare shoulders, nor be deeply cut in the front, back or under the arms.  Undergarments should not be exposed.  Clothing must cover the entire buttocks.  Clothing may not include defamatory writing obscene language or include symbols of drugs, sex, or alcohol.  You can see the complete dress code policy in the Student’s Rights and Responsibilities Handbook on our website.  Please dress for success while at school!

 

Parking Permits

The cost for student parking on campus has been reduced to $50 for 2nd Semester. Students who wish to park on campus may purchase a parking permit in the bookstore during their lunch period or before or after school. Students who have not purchased a permit will not be allowed to park their vehicle on the BGHS campus.

 

FROM THE CAFETERIA: 

The cafeteria will implement the district policy on unpaid meal charges.

If you owe two or more meals on your lunch account you will be given an alternate meal of a turkey and cheese sandwich. You will be charged $3.00 for this meal. You will continue to receive the alternate meal until your account is brought current.  Please bring your lunch account balance current to ensure you receive the meal of your choice.

 

Students must reapply for the free/reduced meal program every school year.   Submit paper applications to the cafeteria or on line applications at ezmealapp.com.  Please allow 10 days for processing.

 

Senior students, please remember to reapply for your Free and Reduced lunch program for the 2017/2018 school year even if you have a shortened schedule. Qualifying for the Free and Reduced lunch program may also help you with testing fees and the athletic waiver.  

 

DELIVERIES:  The front desk will not accept personal items such as IPads, cell phones, money or lunches. There are also no deliveries allowed for students such as balloons, flowers, food or gifts of any kind.

 

Parking

Students, please be a good neighbor and do not park in the Medical Plaza or neighboring business parking lots.  Your car will be towed!  You can purchase a pass for the student parking lot in the Bookstore.
