All Thing EQ (10/21-10/27) Our motto this week is: Are the walls of your ego impenetrable to joy? Our ego may tell us that being joyful is trivial, corny, or something reserved for little kids. We may believe that our obligations and responsibilities prevent us from being happy. But it is far more likely that we simply don’t have habits that support joy in our life. A key to creating more joy in our daily life is to understand that joy does not require big exciting events. In fact, research shows that the opposite is true. Smaller but more frequent moments of joy bring us more experiences of happiness than fewer but larger events. “Lots of little good things make you happier than a handful of big things.”-Eric Barker, author of Barking Up The Wrong Tree Looking for and finding small things to enjoy every day is much more fun than waiting for the dream vacation, dream car, etc. Life isn’t a waiting game. Life is happening right now, and you deserve to enjoy it! Find the little things that you enjoy. Ask yourself, where will I find joy today? Have an answer to that question. Have many answers because the more answers you have, the more you will enjoy your day. Your ego may be waiting for something bigger, but why let the promise of something in the future keep you from enjoying something now? You deserve both. Be good to yourself, Danna Evans All Things E.Q.
