U.S. Army ROTC Virtual College Leadership Fair: US Army ROTC 2020 Virtual College Leadership Fair. Army ROTC is inviting students, parents, and friends to participate in the first virtual college leadership fair September 26th from 10am-1pm. This event will bring over 100 Universities to students across our country in a safe and virtual environment. Students will have the ability to move around virtual tables to talk to the University Army ROTC programs, advisors, and current students at the Universities. For registration: Text "fair" to 72345.

Welcome back Students: Welcome back students, this week Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, you are doing independent asynchronies learning on canvas. It's really important that checking canvas and doing assignments in there, that's the way we going to document your attendance and you are keeping up and catching up if you are behind so you can improve your grades and you will be ready when you come back in person. The welcome back dates are: Senior Thursday, September 24, Juniors, Tuesday, September 29, Sophomores, Monday, October 5th and Freshman, Wednesday, October 14. All Things E.Q. for week of Sep 21-25: Our motto for this week is: Don't give up what you want most for what you want now. 40 Years of Stanford Research Found that People With This One Quality Are More Likely to Succeed. What is this one quality? Delayed gratification. For such an essential skill, delayed gratification does not get spoken about very much. Here is the link to the article above, if you would like to share it with your class. The strategies for this week are:1.Know that the biggest obstacle to getting what you want is often just failing to start. Our mind may tell us we are not smart enough, or special enough or any other lie we may invent to lull us into inaction. However, often the only thing we need to do is to take action. Jim Tunney shared this sentiment perfectly when he said, “It’s the will, not the skill.”2.Seek a healthy balance. Living each day to the fullest means you allow yourself opportunities for free time, for work time, and enough time for sleep. Work is important because it is how we contribute to ourselves and others. Free time feels better and is more enjoyable when it is balanced with productivity. A great irony about leisure is that the more you have of it, the less you enjoy it. Seek balance.3.Use retrospection in the present. Before making a choice, try to look from the perspective of your future self. At the end of the week, would you have rather taken the night to relax or to start getting ahead on some deadlines? Thinking about what choices will yield better results in the future may help you make choices now that will serve you well later. Hispanic Heritage Foundation grants: The Hispanic Heritage Foundation's (HHF) 2020 Youth Awards educational grants program is now accepting applications! Our 22nd Annual Youth Awards will award students who are in the graduating Class of 2021 with up to $1000 in educational grants to fund their higher education or a community-based project. Recipients will be selected for their accomplishments in the classroom, community and for their excellence in various educational categories. Recipients will also be celebrated in virtual ceremonies. The deadline to apply is December 6th, 2020. Students can apply and find more information at www.HispanicHeritage.org.
